.Rai
Are there any particular character archetypes you like to avoid or fill in when writing fiction? Perhaps the anti-hero or pantomime villain.
Mehmani
It's difficult to not get swept into writing them. I nearly ended up making the protagonist either a wisecracking anti-hero or a bookish geeky hero and the other main protagonist an ice queen-type character, although I personally think her response to the lecherous "hero" is a totally reasonable one. The leader of the group is just a classic "straight-man", although it's kind of implied there's something odd about him. Anyway, tropes are inevitable unless you think hard and work around them. Umbra
I don't consciously write into a certain trope; they're too bland and generic that way. The characters just tend to come and go as they please, just sharing bits and pieces of themselves as the story moves forward.
Catterjune
I rather dislike villains who are evil for the sake of being evil and heroes who are good for the sake of being good. Why do you wanna destroy the world? You live on this world! Why do you wanna save the princess? You barely know her!
?someone?
I like to use them in a parody-ish fashion. And, as I said before, the rule that really rules is the Rule of Cool.
The Warden
Whilst it isn't that creative to play a trope straight, I find it's much more fun to see how you can mess about with that particular caste of personality.
Just Crouton
The "fire guy", the "water guy", the "wind guy."
Agro
Anti-heroes and darker characters. Can't get enough of them.
Dr. Cakey
Anti-heroes and darker characters. Can't get enough of them.
This. Very this. To give you some idea, I liked Sasuke all the way up until after the fight with Danzo. Only after that did I start thinking that maybe things were getting a [s]little[/s] lot dumb. How many episodes of brooding, betraying, costume-changing, and eyeball-bleeding was that? 300? More?
Agro
I'm more of an Itachi guy. Maybe a dark character that turns out to be a villain, but really turns out to be a good guy in the end. Always fun to work with them, since the basic idea of getting them from point A to point B can give you some damn good ideas for future character development.
