They seem to eschew actually being interesting and insightful to instead make forced attempts at humor and be bombastic. (Then again, that's the pedant in me speaking, so take it as you may.) The idea is to try and make these as enjoyable as possible and a lot of these people I know are commenting with good intentions. It's just a major misunderstanding, in my honest opinion Though I will have to agree with the majority of comments saying that these interviews aren't really that enjoyable because of the try-hard humor to them. It's one thing to criticize someone based on something they worked on like a deck they made, or a story they wrote, or whatever. The point of doing that is to better the person you're critiquing and to learn what to do and what not to do. That's why we post our decks and our stories, to get feedback and get better. [u][b]That is not the point of these interviews.[/b][/u] The [i]point[/i] is to get to know the people being interviewed better. And newsflash people, not everyone in the world is funny, or vibrant, or whatever else you seem to be looking for. Not everyone's a writer, not everyone has something super exciting going on, and they may not be as hilarious as say Hina or Broken in an interview. Do you think everyone who's been a guest on talk shows has had the crowd in hysterics like Seth McFarlane? No, because not everyone is as funny as Seth McFarlane. But that doesn't mean they're not interesting, not talented, not unworthy of attention. Everyone's slated for an interview because there's people who voted them in to be interviewed because they wanted to be interviewed. And even if people only got in by begging for votes and you feel they don't "deserve" to be interviewed, [u]who gives a sh*t[/u], you don't have to read theirs and you don't even have to worry about them "clogging the line" or whatever because it seems the interviewers are picking whoever they feel like (though I personally feel it should go down the list, but that's just me). These interviews are members telling us who they are. How do you think they would feel if people were telling them, "Sorry, you don't seem interesting to me." or "Well, that was bland, thanks for boring me." Posting that for creative works can be considered constructive criticism. Here, it is just bullying. Or belittlement, if you feel that's too strong a word. DK may not be taking this seriously, but if people told me that I was boring and they didn't like what I said about myself, well, that'd really hurt my feelings to be honest. I'd obsess over it and constantly wonder if other people thought the same and then start [i]looking [/i]for it as I go about my daily life and conversations. Of course, not everyone is me and maybe most of you would simply shrug it off and move on. But you don't really know what life's like for the person behind the screen. They might use the internet/YCM as an escape from their terrible lives IRL, only to encounter more belittlement as they share bits of who they are. You can tell me I sucked at interviewing or that it might be better this way or that way, that's fine. Don't dare insult people just for telling us who they are. This IS supposed to be a fun community event like Lunar said. Community events are supposed to involve everyone having a good time and enjoying each other's company, that's why we hold community events, to strengthen it. Negativity is not needed here. "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Sure it doesn't apply for certain situations, but it most certainly does here. And in case anyone's feeling down, know that I enjoyed every single one of these interviews and getting to know you better. I believe the only interviews I have yet to comment on were Hina's and Caeda's. Hina, you were hilarious and your interview was totally better than mine. Caeda, I totally agree with you on video game graphics and I personally think you'd make a great mod. And for the record, a lot of people see the good in you. Oh and apparently Wynn's was uploaded, I'll get to it soon. But yeah, that's just how I feel. And I'm looking forward to more interviews and getting to know more of you better. [/quote] The reason I interviewed Dwarven King was because he was selected to be interviewed, apparently got halfway through, and then the interview was scrapped because he wasn't interesting enough.
