I liked the bit where you were talking about Minecraft, but then the interviewer did the equivalent of "yeah that's nice LET'S TALK ABOUT THIS NOW!" Generally speaking, if you as an interviewer feel you're getting something interesting out of your subject, it's not a bad idea to drop what you planned to talk about to focus on the new idea instead.
