Toffee.
Ironically, I actually see what hes getting at. BUT~ When it comes down to: "Pay 4000 Life Points: Win the Duel" You realize why everyone runs this.
Bahamut - Envoy of the End
Whereas 100 life points to negate a topdecked BLS is totally a waste of deck space...
Sora1499
You can ALWAYS pay the cost. That's what I love about SJ.
Agro
Not to mention that if you're getting OTK'd because you used this, it means you played this at the wrong time and deserve to get OTK'd anyway.
Mugendramon
Lemme see if I can find what Chris once said... Yes, here it is.
It's not really the cost. It's the fact that you only get 1 "Negate anything" out of it, and it's also only counterable by another one of it, making it ridiculously hard to stop. It's not something one should be throwing away unless they have absolutely no out to what their opponent is playing. You can have this set the whole game and not play it, just because there's no reason to, tbh.
~British Soul~
I agree, timing is key when it comes to using this card. Use this at the right time, then the game is yours, use it at the wrong time, then you you might as well deserve to lose.

The Hounds Of Anubis
Marcos quoted pretty much the most relevant thing about it, in that it takes skill to use efficiently as possible. It's the best answer to anything because it really does answer just about anything. And yeah, it's not too uncommon to set this when x card is the only thing you'd negate, but negating it is key to you winning (or not losing). Expelsword
I use this, but I don't use Warning. Somewhat because I don't have Warning, but I find most of the time Compulsory and Bottomless are good enough.
Can't find the post with Solemn Judgement, but just imagine trying to argue with this... "Saying that only demonstrates your ignorance......" "Saying that only shows how childish you are as well as it demonstrating your ignorance...tch tch tch you will learn some day. " "I use to have anger issues as well and as a result i fell into madness...that is why i have decided to control my anger in other ways by finding humor in things, and whenever i see a strong urge of falling into madness giving me the strong urge to murder somebody i just remember to use my words as a weapon and laugh about it...that is just another example of why i am better than you, because i am a fighter and i will do whatever it takes to win...... " "Mistaking truth for ignorance is arrogance...It is foolish to be arrogant about something you know nothing about because the fact of the matter is that i have faced every available deck out there and my deck has lost less than half of its duels. The real reason why my deck has such a low defeat count is because it is "the first" stable gemini warrior deck ever built, that is why i put so much confidence in my deck because i know for a fact that it can hack it with the best of them and the real reason why it has become the best is because it has faced many battles with many decks threw trial and error......" This was the grandest yugioh player of all time. Cute Rotten Yoshika
he sounds dreamy. OT: solemn judgement is a very VERY good out to almost any situation. as has been said, it requires a lot of skill to know when to use it but jeez. its sad that the amount of work and balance it took to make this card great but not broken is rarely ever seen now.
