I have become extremely irritated reading those "92% of teenagers have moved on to rap music..."

 

 

Surprise! That's not true!

 

 

But that's not the topic of this discussion. The topic is that Rap is not, in fact, "Retards Attempting Poetry."

 

If anyone thinking that has ever listened to an actual good rap song, I would be surprised. You probably heard "Crank Dat" and said, "ewwwwthissucks".

 

You are right.

 

But then you continue by saying that all rap is bad. That is, in fact, untrue.

 

I used to think rap was stupid...when I was an immature 10 year old.

 

Do you all want to be immature 10 year olds?

 

 

I'm not trying to convince anyone to listen to rap, I'm just saying there needs to be some tolerance among you young "haters". Those of you who think Blink-182 or some other terrible 'music' is the best ever and that every other group is bad.

 

Seriously.

 

Rap is not bad. It's music. And quite frankly, it's better than a lot of what people claim to be 'music'.

I don't mind rap. I don't really like it, but I don't hate it. I can tolerate it. Actually, I take that part back, I can't listen to Soulja Boy to anymore. When I first heard it, I was didn't really mind it, but by the time it was played for the 5th time at the homecoming dance, I was like, boo sucks :?

Rap in itself is not actually bad, its a form of 'music' of which some people listen to and like.

 

What you MUST remember Horus, is peoples tastes.

 

I do not like chicken, therefore i hate it, its the same with films, books and of course Music.

 

People are entitled to hate whatever they choose too.

 

Its no good complaining about the power of Free Will.

 

I have heard many Raps songs, and of course, dislike them all as im a full on Elektro-Head.

 

R'n'b is the worst excuse for 'music' though, rap is better.

The main problem with me is that I live with someone who loves the so called "Crap Rap" My explination as to why I dislike it will be in a Spoiler as it may contain Stuff people may find Offensive....

 

[spoiler=My reason]Ok now the Disclaimer is out of the way. Here's my reasons. All these people ever seem to Rap About are Drugs, Guns, Female Dogs (You know what I mean) and how great they think they are. The worst is when they constantly say the N-Word all the time to each other. I'm sorry to throw the race card in there but it's a true fact.... I can be called a "White Monkey" Yet I say the N-Word to them and i'm as good as dead!

 

Plus it sets a bad example to the youth Culture. They will Idolise Thier favorite Artist such as 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and all the other Copycat Wanabees. Please post a so called "Good Rap" For me to listen to.

jspamax, you are who I am talking to.

youve heard probably 2 or 3 rap songs. If you think rap is all drugs, guns and bitches, you have not listened to good rap.

nobody should care about anything that anyone says to them in a derogatory way. its stupid.

If you say rap is giving a bad example, are you then implying that bands such as Decapitated, Defleshed, Vader, and Rob Zombie, who are all non-rap, are not giving bad examples?

the same that you say about rap also applies to every other form of music.

by the way, anyone who idolizes a singer/rapper just because they like their music is an extreme fool.

Yes, but opinion is not fact. Disliking something does not mean it is bad. Music like Ray Kaane is good. Music like Blink-182 is bad. i could really like Blink-182, but does that make them good? Some people hate hawaiian music. does that make Ray Kaane bad?

there is a certain kind of rap called 'Rappin Crap' (dont ask me where the name came from) but it contains the sad/touching music while still rapping realy fast

I can tolerate rap but I don't think its something I can listen to on a daily basis, I am more a grunge fan. Rap is okay in music though one must admit, it can get annoying when everyone tries to act like one and you sit next to that person in class.

Many people have different view-points on music. Just because some people think that rap is bad doesn't mean that they're immature 10 year-olds. As DJ has already said, it's all free-will. I personally hate rap and wish it wasn't invented. But I will not say it's bad. I do have this sort of survey msg in my sig, but only because I don't listen to rap. It's a fake survey, you should know that already, and I just have it to say that I don't listen to rap. Instead, I am a Progressive Metal person. No don't say I listen to screamo and Death Metal with all the other sub-genres that have the low-drone death-metal growling/roaring. I listen to bands like Circus Maximus, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Iced Earth, etc. If you wish to know what Prog sounds like, it my personal opinion, it's the only metal-sub-genre that has talent in it. Just look up any of the bands I have listed to see what I mean. even though Prog really means New-Age metal.

I mainly dislike rap because that's all I ever hear on the radio and see on TV nowadays. Since I'm from Australia countries like the U.S. have a much larger variety of radio stations and T.V. stations dedicated to certain styles of music. Here its all rap, R & B and mainstream pop. This is not to say I hate all rap, R & B, etc. just the majority of what's played on the radio. You don't know how rare it is to hear a band like the Foo Fighters here. And you have to stay up 'till midnight just to see Avenged Sevenfold!

 

But as DJ and others have said, people like different things so I just thought that I'd throw in my 2 cents about "rap music".

Your opinon seems bafflings to me how can you say that if you hate rap you are an immature 10 year old? Just because you dont like something doesnt make you immature. I have listened to rap (and ones which people claim to be good e.g. G-unit, Akarla) and i have decided i dont like it. Does that make me less mature? The ones who are not mature are the ones who say its rubbish when they havent actually listened to it.

these are what i think are the best. so all of you know i made such a thread once but it was more about R&B which people mistake as Rap, heared T-Pain, Kanye West, Akon, Chris Brown? if you haven't then you should. seriously Rap isn't bad at all, at least it's better then Country. Rap unlike other "Music" have a message unlike the Crap Rap which is also good but no message what so ever. heared "I'm Sprung" or even "Runaway Love" or even "When I'm Gone"? if not you should cause thats good rap.
