T.G. Halberd Cannon

Recommended Posts

Quasar makes this card superfluous. It's the first of the "Delta Accel" Synchros, and it's got a solid effect, but the effort of bringing it out should win you the game.

Which Quasar does, and it's why this card is overshadowed so badly. Quasar has identical Summoning Conditions and identical stats, but in exchange you get a double+ attacker that can negate almost anything for free.

Your reward for bringing this out is a very solid attacker that can negate a Summon for free. Granted, it has Rai-oh/Judgment rulings, but that's solid anyway. But when it's destroyed, you revive a T.G. That's a massive step DOWN from this card, because in all likelihood, the T.G. Synchro you used was Librarian, a 2400 Level 5 monster. There's no better option for revival than that, unless you're inexplicably running Blade Gunner or T.G. in general.

On the subject of T.G., pure TG never was really good at Synchro spamming this. They can bring out the Level 5s with Striker and Warwolf, but Level 2 for Recipro/Formula is harder with that Deck specifically, so Halberd's SS effect is very unlikely to net gold. It's vulnerable to all forms of removal.

Quasar on the other hand, not only has the built-in negation effect, but swinging twice with 4000 ATK is almost certainly game, and in the event it does die, it brings out Shooting Star Dragon, which has 3300 ATK (only a minor downgrade from Quasar's 4000) and the costless destruction negation effect. So if Quasar doesn't win the game, Shooting Star is very good compensation.

This pales badly in comparison, and so would only be considered in a format where Quasar doesn't exist.

What we need are broken good T.G. cards that can actually allow this card to be run AND be worth running it. Come on Konami, at least give us some good cards for a change without breaking them but leaving them viable for us to use for our own personal entertainment....Or break them so we can spam about 2 of these per turn (restricting us from quasar) and some protection. That works too!

Well, the issue with TG and their Synchro spam potential is that TG only search if they're destroyed, so using them as Synchro Material tends to be the -1 Synchro Summoning is "supposed" to be. And TG Synchros have trouble replenishing resources because they draw a card when they're destroyed, and Wonder Magician is weak so it's easy to kill by battle, even if its Summon becomes a +0 due to its S/T destruction effect.

Recipro is a plot device to make this, and the 2 TG used to Summon it weren't actually released.

Compared to Synchrons, who not only have incredible synergy and versatility, but they draw Materials from the Graveyard with things like Level Eater, Junk Synchron, Dandylion, etc, making the Synchro Summons less of a loss and usually being able to get some sort of gain from Synchro Summoning, such as Tuningware, Dandylion, Doppelwarrior, etc.

HYPOTHETICAL: What if it had its anime effect?

EDIT: For reference:

1 Tuner Synchro Monster + 2 or more non-Tuner Synchro Monsters
You can negate the Summon of a monster, and destroy it. This effect can be used up to the number of Synchro Material Monsters used to Synchro Summon this card. When a monster activates an effect that would remove a card from the field, you can negate that effect and have that monster lose 800 ATK. When a Spell/Trap Card you control targets this card, you can halve this card's original ATK and DEF. When this card is destroyed, you can draw 1 card. When this card is removed from the field, you can Special Summon 1 "T.G. Blade Blaster" from your Extra Deck or Graveyard.

I also think that it would be decent as well.
