Red Nova Dragon

Recommended Posts

Card is fun in Resonator Decks, if only because Scarlet Carpet is obviously a "Make me!" card.

But it's really just a giant beatstick that takes an absurd amount of effort for, and half the easier ways to make it can win without making it, such as the Rekindling stuff. That said, Rekindling also makes it easier to play Majestic Red, and this card's existence killed Majestic Red's chances of ever shining, similar to how Shooting Star laughs at Majestic Star's efforts to be cool.

Or maybe it's because Majestic Dragon SUCKS.

Royal Decree, Trap Stun, and Lance, are commonly used cards that can help you make-up for it's weaknesses.

I find it funny how a monster that has a humongous amount of ATK, immune to effect destruction, and as if it needed it: The ability to negate attacks and leave the field to escape battle destruction altogether, is "not worth it". Build in protection from both battle and effects, and more ATK than you'll ever need, do not qualify. Hilarious.

Personally, it's one of my favorite Synchros ever along with Red Dragon. I just love their flavor, their art, and Red Dragon's effect was pretty original and can come in handy. Not to mention it's 3k ATK is pretty useful as is. What's not to love?

It's only not worth it because it requires you to have a specific Level 8 Synchro, and Summon 2 more Tuners whose levels should equal 4. It can be done in many situations, but it's tricky. Red Nova is awesome, and I love it, but the Decks capable of Summoning it usually have better options.

But when you compare what Shooting Star Dragon does against what Red Nova does, Shooting Star is better because Shooting Star can protect all your cards from destruction (once a turn), whereas Red Nova is outright immune, but nothing else is. Plus, Shooting Star more than likely used Formula Synchron, which off the bat replaces part of your investment.

To be fair though, Red Nova can use Formula Synchron as well.

Anyway, I do hope Jeweled Red gets an evolution that's a counterpart to this.

Yeah, but Red Nova was cooler when Formula was at more than 1, so you could use 2 Formula Synchron to Summon it.

This guy makes me wish Chain Resonator was printed, just for the inanity.

On another note, you can bring back Red Dragon with Descending Lost Star, then Debris Dragon into a LV1 Tuner. And Rulers can do this easily.
