Magician of Faith

Recommended Posts

Magician of Faith is one of those cards that is only as strong as what it can bring back.  In the past it has been able to bring back Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, Heavy Storm, Monster Reborn and much more.  Now there are less hugely powerful limited spells.  Basically just Dark Hole right?  Plus the flip effect is so much easier to circumvent now.  I'm not concerned at all.

It's a nice card to see back. Being a Flip Effect makes it rather slow, and without so many extreme game-changing Spells running around (Reborn, Storm, etc), it'll be either a solid card in certain Decks, or it won't be used at all. Honestly, I'm banking more on the latter.

Similarly, Pot of Avarice is also gone, so Magician doesn't really have as many potential advantage-gaining cards to choose from, and many of the cards capable of recycling Magician won't see as much a benefit from doing so. Mask of Darkness might even be better now.

I plan to run one maybe in Gravekeepers, though, if I plan to run something like Wonder Wand. Of course, Necrovalley throws a wrench into that, so Magician probably will just sit in the hand, and Gravekeepers have better options in their monster slots.

Spellbooks might consider it, with Fate Limited, but again, Spellbooks have plenty of recycling options already.

Apprentice Magician can search it, still.

I was thinking of using it in prophecy chaos builds because it's a light, and has the potential to give a plus, as well as grab fate back faster than tower looping it.

It isn't as good as it used to be, when some amazing spells weren't banned yet. I think now it's not worth running in a deck unless you have a deck that works around spells, it can work well for decks that revolve around spell cards however. But nowadays, what are you gonna bring back from your graveyard? Dark Hole? Mystical Space Typhoon? Lightning Vortex? Swords of Revealing Light? The options aren't worth it apart from Dark Hole.

It's like the Tsuku unban. Everyone cares and doesn't care at the same time.

Me, I really don't care. Even if this thing were to cycle draw power at this point, it's much slower than most other methods, and most deck thinning nowadays is better done by direct search.

Times have changed while you were sealed away. Your power will not be as effective as it once was, but I know you can find a way to fight your way up the ladder again. There will be trials ahead of you, your time sealed has made you unfamiliar to the landscape of the meta, beings such as Synchros, and XYZs are foreign to you now, but you must learn to use them in conjunction with your own abilities in order to rise to the top once more, and claim your rightful place as staple. Welcome back, and good luck on your journey, magician of faith. We believe in the you that believes in us.

This card really is not ban-worthy.

Whenever people deemed dangerous to use her because X Spell Card, I'd say X Spell Card is the one badly designed here.

With the passing of time she just becomes slower and her use becomes less justified as the game gets more of a need to follow archetypes and other pre-assembled decks that demand synergy this card just won't work with in most cases.

Definitely not the must-have staple she was a decade ago.

The best uses out of her are with Apprentice Magician and that new trap that revives face-down.

Unless Spellbooks have something to day, she might even be able to keep going up in the list.
