Prior of the Ice Barrier

If you control a face-up "Ice Barrier" monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You cannot Special Summon any Level 5 or higher monsters the turn you use this effect. You can Tribute this card to target 1 "Ice Barrier" monster in your Graveyard, except "Prior of the Ice Barrier"; Special Summon that target.

 

 

Obviously, it's an amazing card in Ice Barriers. But I was thinking...is there any way to do shenanagans with it by combining Barriers with other water stuff? I mean, it summons any Barrier, doesn't negate the effect, and has no OPT restriction. Seems like there's gotta be some crazy plays you can do with it, especially since the level summoning restriction doesn't affect Xyz summons.

 

So yeah, discuss what you can do with this guy. (On a side note, this is my first topic outside the deck section in like a year. Whoa.)

but IB engine is barely a thing, all other IB monsters have no spam power or any cool effects, that's why it doesn't need to negate the SSed monster's effects, the best target for this is only a Strategist, maybe can ss Pilgrim if you use this as an R4 engine

Ice Barriers are like the most....I don't want to say "underrated" because no one plays them, nor do I want to say "good" because they're a mediocre deck with little support, but they have the best..........flavour. When I look at a card like Prior, I think of the art as something that should belong in Magic, which I guess is a good thing. As for his effect, if Ice Barriers got something truly groundbreaking that could make combos live and well, it could be a devastating card. What are the best targets for this card that we have currently, though? None, off the top of my head.

That's kinda the issue...the fact that he can summon the Generals or Gungnir/Dewloren is interesting, though.

It doesn't lock, though, if you normal it, or use Surface or whatever.
