Northern Sage
When a "Number" Xyz Monster you control is destroyed: Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 Xyz Monster with a lower Rank than the destroyed monster. (This Special Summon is treated as an Xyz Summon.) Then, attach the destroyed monster to the Summoned monster as an Xyz Material. Being a Quick-Play is cool. Too bad Heraldics don't run anything less than Rank 4, or this could be interesting with 18… Discuss.

Well, a cute play could be Ranking Up Number 18 with Limited Barian's Force, and Setting this, and then if that Chaos Number is destroyed, you can Summon a Rank 4, and get Number 18's effect (IIRC, 18's effect doesn't miss timing). goddamnit names are a pain
Guys guys each deck has its own builds. Chill before this gets stupid. Oh wait I'm posting. I reallllly like this card. Happy to see another RDM, but it is situational. However, it is great for what it does, considering it makes a free X with a material. Some really good Numbers can downgrade into any Xyz, which is neat.

Blake
Uh....no? Yeah no. Not saying it's smart to not run it but it is far from the reason you play the deck. You wouldn't run the deck at all if it didn't have it. It's the glue that ties the deck together, and is very much so the reason to run the deck because it says basically any monster you draw is a miracle fusion or monster reborn. In a deck where almost everything wants to be in the grave.
Althemia
Then to be fair, not everyone's remotely good at this game, considering Augmentation is the reason you play the deckThe reason you play the deck is almost definitely Leo and AHA, not necessarily Augmentation. I know a lot of the decks in the OCG do not play Augmentation due to the restriction of you having to summon only Heraldics that turn, but access to 101 in their metagame is far more important so it could change in the TCG. Are you saying Heraldics don't run C69? .. a card that can be spammed from the grave with.. Was it Unicorn? It's almost like players are cutting out on dead drawing cards in order to make way for good ones! Especially since this deck obviously loves to waste all of it's advantage on sub-optimal plays.
goddamnit names are a pain
The reason you play the deck is almost definitely Leo and AHA, not necessarily Augmentation. I was going to say the same thing. Augmentation is reinforcement- people play a deck for the core. At least me thinks so.

In a deck where almost everything wants to be in the grave. So angry right now. I played Heraldics before the OCG LVAL support, but it was lacking. When we got the new Heraldics, I continued to note that Amphisbaena is what the Deck needed, and No.18 is fantastic for the Grave setup. The existence of their Field Spell just plain pisses me off. I don't like it, and I don't rely on it. It's extremely good, but I've never felt the Deck can only work with it. While I am the type of player to prefer using RUM in Heraldics, the Field Spell is just a stupid card that makes a fun archetype shift into something more degenerate than AHA and Leo already make it out to be. So no, people don't play Heraldics because of that stupid Field. Leo and AHA is what makes the Deck truly work. Amphis and No.18 is why the Deck is almost meta-worthy. And if I'm wrong, that's fine, but it's presumptuous to assume the archetype only gets attention because of that superfluous degenerate card. ...yes, I am too emotionally invested in this. Blake
So wait... wait... wait... What you're saying is...Don't assume an archetype gets attention from competitive players because it has a degenerate card to back it up and make it work even better? As the mod of this section, you should be ashamed for even SAYING that. That's a horrible example for other members to follow.I admit, I'm talking from the TCG mindset, as Lily and I had a talk about. The OCG can't really afford to play it because their game is too degenerate. But in a TCG mindset, Augmentation is one of, if not THE reason, to play the deck. It's a way to filter your hand into your grave while setting up for an OTK. Heraldics can play a really mean grind game and follow it up with an OTK if they don't get lucky and OTK early. The field is what really makes it work. In the OCG they play it because it's an Animu.dek, and they cream themselves over those decks. I think the only remotely respectable Animu.dek the OCG insists on playing is Artifachronomaly. They also need quick efficient 101s, which the deck can do. But by the TCG list, you don't need those swift 101s as much, and as such Augmentation is a must. Why? You're not in a format that basically forces you to not play it and it's a stupidly good card that only doesn't see play because too many other stupidly good cards prevent the really good early game grinding that Heraldics can do.Of course the deck can rip random OTKs, but that's not consistent enough next to similar decks to matter without the field. I keep forgetting that the good HB (bar Leo and a few others) are OCG. From a TCG point- you really do need the Field Spell. But it ain't the reason to play the game, it's just what keeps it alive so long. Like a stable source of power, maybe. this card is broken... Tell me how a situational card that relies on Numbers to get its goal is broken.

Leo, Amphisbaena, Unicorn (thanks largely to 18) and arguably Aberconway are the good ones. I'm on the fence about Basilisk, but he has his uses. Only Amphisbaena is OCG-only, and Number 18 if you're referring to the whole Heraldic archetype.

玄魔の王
This section is getting really bad for topic Meandering. This isn't even a card Heraldics would play, as already mentioned. In fact I'm not sure why I would play it. Turn Big Eye into Volcasaurus? Oh wait, if it gets printed it'll become Utopia Support. If it does though, I want it to boost Roots' rank. To keep my answer short before nudging this topic back on-track: I'm admittedly extremely biased towards Heraldics, and have personal contempt towards the Field (which I do use in my builds despite that). It's a card the Deck can and will definitely USE, but I don't like the claim they must have it or the Deck can't be played. If you want to discuss it further, I'm open to PMs. OT: The card would never see play in Heraldics anyway. It's too conditional unless they run Rank 3s, which is a bad idea. Running this in case you use RUM is wasteful.
Mugendramon
Too bad Heraldics don't run anything less than Rank 4, or this could be interesting with 18… You mean it didn't occur to you you can just run a random Rank 3 so this could live as 18 gets killed? Running this in case you use RUM is wasteful. Random thought, but... Leviair? When your turn rolls around, detach to Special a Unicorn/Aberconway/whatever, and get a mill off. Probably not the best idea, but I'd try it if I had the option.
Lonk
How come I'm still on YCM if these topics devolve into off-topic, utter stupidity? Both sides, please, for the love of all is good, stop circle jerking off-topic (You're just stroking each other's egos at this point). If you want to discuss whether or not Augment is the best card in a Heraldic Deck, then go make a relevant topic off of that. As for this card, it's not something I would run. While it is cool for what it does, it is awkwardly situational and doesn't do much for any Deck. Only thing I could say is that is has a larger range of topics, but Numeron Fall is considerably better concept-wise. Even then, Numeron Fall isn't too good.
