Glowing Slime Dragon

Hi, just thought I could make a 'Slime' card which carries the strong DEF of cards like Metal Reflect Slime. As it can't be Special Summoned it's quite balanced and not OP in my opinion. 2 monsters have to be tributed and it's ATK isn't too much.

I'd appreciate a bit of feedback a lot & plan on creating more Slime 'Shimmering Ooze' cards. :)

Thank you

Just in case you can't read the small text on the card itself, here is the effect:

Cannot be Special Summoned. This face-up card on the field is unaffected by card effects that don't target. This card in face-up Defense Position can attack with it's base ATK. After this card successfully destroyed a monster by battle, you can Special Summon a Level 4 (or lower) monster from your hand or Graveyard at the beginning of the next Battle Phase of your opponent (this is a Quick effect).

Here is the new effect:

Cannot be Special Summoned. This card is unaffected by card effects that do not target a card on the field. This card can attack while in face-up Defense Position, and if it does, apply its original ATK for damage calculation. If this card causes damage on your opponent's Life Points: You can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower 'Shimmering Ooze' monster (from your hand or Graveyard).

I hope it's formulated correctly this time (thanks to 'Sakura Haruno' for the help!).

I also changed the name to 'Shimmering Ooze' (thanks for your suggestion, 'Dramatic Crossroad'!).

ATK and DEF are adjusted and will work better now, I guess. I also specialized the SS effect to only work with 'Shimmering Ooze' monsters and made the effect itself faster (the SS is done immediately). The condition to SS is lowered to just the monster causing damage. I hope this isn't OP.

Further feedback is appreciated! :-)

Well, it has protection from stuff like Mirror Force, Exciton Knight, Torrential Tribute and some other stuff, so it has some merits of staying around for a while.

In terms of its attacking effect, it essentially follows in the footsteps of Total Defense Shogun, Superheavy Samurai Big Benkei and Rampart Blaster, but will always have 2100 ATK when attacking. Considering the monsters that currently exist/commonly used, 2100 ATK isn't exactly strong enough to take something out (and as a result, the SS effect won't trigger often). I would remove the "original" part from the effect so you can boost its ATK with some form of effect and actually destroy something. It's a nice wall, yes, but Big Benkei outclasses this card by virtue of using that 3500 DEF of his to do so. You could afford to do something similar, but you'll have to lower the ATK as a result.

While we're on the discussion of that effect, you do realize that if your opponent doesn't bother to declare a Battle Phase, that effect is moot. In most, if not all cases, you want the monster now so you can set up for other plays (Xyz/Synchro, Tribute Summon, w/e). You might want to change it to summon it during the End Phase of that turn or something, so it triggers faster.

As it is now, it's simply a wall monster that Exciton cannot bomb with a slow SS effect.

Thank you very much for the feedback!

I'll use the effect the way you formulated it as it sounds much more ''official''.

I'll also consider changing the part of the effect which applies the original ATK in Def mode; makes more sense to give the card more ATK and less DEF, maybe 3100/2600 which would be okay for a Level 9 monster (or I could create something like ''Slime World'' as a Field Spell, which could also be searched from the deck by other monsters and/or Glowing Slime Dragon itself!)

You also recommended to make the SS happen immediately which is a good idea as well.

I'll repost a improved version of the card soon! :-)

Aside the OCG errors that Sakura pointed out, it's rather balanced. The name kind of reminds me of Glow Moss, you could have picked something that sounds more dramatic or obnoxious to grasp the attention like "Shimmering Ooze" or "Radiant Mucus" :)

The names you suggested are brilliant, might change the whole naming now (especially 'ooze' sounds very good to me).

Thanks for your feedback, appreciated!
