Numbers 23 Meikai no Reikishi Lancelot / Number 23: Lancelot, Ghost Knight of the Underworld
Rank 8 DARK Zombie-Type Xyz Effect Monster
ATK 2000
DEF 1500
2 Level 8 monsters
(1) This card can attack directly if it has any Xyz Material. (2) When this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; destroy it. (3) Once per turn, when another monster’s effect, or a Spell/Trap Card is activated: Detach 1 Xyz Material from thsi card; negate that activation, and if you do destroy it.

Damn nice. But the last effect being mandatory and dat meager ATK hurts.

This card is pretty powerful for it's effect. A mandatory negation does in fact make it hard to take advantage of its other two effects, but for the most part I would take the 2k beater Solemn Judgment over a direct attacker any day (even though solemn judgement is superior.) It's stats are pretty mediocre for a Rank 8 monsters, which I suppose is to make up for his effect. Nonetheless, this card is great, and is certainly leagues better then Zombiestein in terms of Zombie Xyz (which we are currently lacking thereof.)

Why not both?

It only negates other card effects.

It's a powerful card yes, but bless DoomCal that this is mandatory so you can't protect it with lance or stuffs

I do not know why exactly. It just seems that the effect negation portion seems more effective in terms of control. Let's face it, your opponent is going to throw everything they have at you to keep this guy from getting 1 hit in (so most likely, he will become a mindless beater with 1 - 2 turns at most.)

He got quite the nerf, as I expected, but I'm just glad he's a card now.  Greedy Sarameya, Frozen Lady Justice, Deadly Sin, Titanic Moth and Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon are all still waiting, and we still don't even know what Deadly Sin even does.

We got Deadly Sin a while ago. It detaches 1 to modify its rank.
