LeLukeX
Why are cards like Raigeki, Harpie's Feather Duster, Snatch Steal Banned? Some will cry, BROKEN! Others say SPLASHABLE... and noobs will proclaim THEY SHOULDN'T BE BANNED And all of those answers are correct, except of course what the noobs said. But my answer? RESTRICTIONS! When Konami first started making Yugioh cards back in the old days, there weren't restrictions on a card. "You can only activate 1 [insert card name] once per turn." "You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect." Didn't exist, Konami hadn't thought of things like this yet, and as a result, activating 3 Pot of Greeds FTW and then attacking that same turn makes this card banned forever. But if Konami made some of the older banned cards today they would look like: EDITS made: This is the last add/draw card they can activate after they activate this, including searches. Cannot conduct BP, SS, and OPT clause. EDITS made: Negated monster effects and you can't use it for a Synchro or Xyz material, turning the monster into a beatstick. EDITS made: Skips your next BP giving opp another turn to try to get over SD, also OPT clause. EDITS made: Can't control S/T, can't activate S/T, and can't conduct BP turn you use this. Restricting abuse OTK afterwards. EDITS made: No Special Summoning afterwards and no BP. To prevent abuse and OTK afterwards. EDITS made: If you target you monster it has to be NS'd, to prevent ATK ATK ATK and then during opp DP flip this card (unless you have a Normal Summoned monster, most OTK's have all SS'd monsters). Also put in the no more Burn DMG for rest of duel to prevent Chain Burn abuse. Also skips BP or current BP to prevent near-OTKs=OTK abuse. EDITS made: Gain 3k instead of shitty 1k. Also you cannot Summon meaning you can't use the stolen monster for Synchro, Xyz, Fusion, or even Tribute summon. What y'all think? This is just a thought experiment on how these cards would look if they were made today. Please do comment your thoughts and opinions.
Draconus297
In quite a few of these cases (especially "Pot of Greed" and "Snatch Steal"), you've grossly overcompensated, making them pointless to use. If the cards needed this much fixing to be balanced, I'm glad I hang out in a group where nothing is banned, and our decks can be structured however the hell we want. Sorry, I've just never liked the massive compensations made in the name of balance.
Neochu-H
old banned cards like these make me wonder why on the website they say you should keep them because "you could use their powers again" when its obvious we will never be on pot of weed again. I have no idea how this even pertains to my created cards or topic.
Peridank
Alot of these restrictions make the cards UW, look at snatch steal... No summoning monsters at all... plus they gain 3000 per turn. HELLO DRAINING SHIELD! and possibly Swords of Light any turn you have that card. A plus 9000 by the end of it. These cards become a pestilance that no one wants to even look at.

You could steal a card like Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, that would still pay for itself even if SoRL was on the field. Don't forget you can still use the effects. @J-Max: What? Sander
Pot of Greed, even when heavily restrained like this, will still be the backbone of a lot of decks, as is / was Duality, and people will be ready to skip their BP / not add more cards to hand just to get that +1. Harpie's Feather Duster is still broken given that its condition is laughably easy to meet. Snatch Steal was made even worse. And by that I mean the connection to Bad Reaction to Simochi, which will be even easier to run in the deck given that Hidden Armory exists. Those were the ones that still seemed a little problematic, the rest seem fine.
