The Necloth of Clausolas | WATER
*** | Spellcaster / Ritual / Effect | 0 ATK | 2300 DEF
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Necloth" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Before the Damage Step (in either player's turn), if a "Necloth" Ritual monster you control battles an opponent's monster: You can discard this card; your monster gains 1000 ATK until the end of the Damage Step, also the effects of your opponent's battling monster are negated. You can only use this effect of "The Necloth of Clausolas" once per turn. Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls that was Special Summoned; while this card is face-up on the field, that monster's ATK becomes 0 and it's effects are negated.

- Clausolas is technically a Duel Terminal monster, who was originally from the Mist Valley. This makes them a Part 1 Synchro in actuality, making them a candidate for getting Necloth'd
- Fills a gap in the Necloth roster by becoming a hand trap that can be used during the Damage Step.
- Retains Clausolas' effect with a buff in that the negation and ATK drop is permanent while Clausolas is around. However, becomes restricted to only Special Summoned monsters to keep in style with themes that Konami has liked to do lately.

Koko, please try not to use a color that almost blends in with this site's white background; it makes it very hard to see the card/its effects.

For the most part, it grants the rest of the main Necloths a power bonus while hitting things (in most cases, this gives them enough power to run over common bosses + even more obscure +3k ones) and essentially renders the opponent's monster as a "Vanilla". Second effect essentially punishes several SS-heavy Decks, as you've already mentioned, which either hits the main monsters or staples that are stil around.

The opponent can get rid of this card through battle, as while 2300 DEF is still enough to wall things; it can still die to other monsters, especially if they have another +2300 ATK monster to get rid of it (or by card effects).

Aside from that, I don't see any issues with it. Flavor-wise, it works with the storyline.

I apologize that I couldn't give more in-depth CnC on this card.

At first I was concerned with turning Clausolas into a Necloth, considering the first Ritual Necloths are based on monsters who were also infected by the Verz (the IB dragons and Unicore in Verz Thanatos) while Clausolas doesn't have a Verz counterpart; but now that Valkyrus became a Necloth it should be fine now.

That aside, I think the effects are good.

Although I feel the ATK boost of 1000 is too small, the effect comes with the perk of negating the opponent's battling monster, which spice things up nicely and allows you to get over monsters with protection effects or counter monsters with pre-Damage Step destruction such as Nephilim or Catastor.

And the last effect looks fair and follows the flavor of Necloths as explained in the OP.

Actually, re-reading the hand Trap effect I noticed it only works on Necloth Ritual monsters. I guess it wouldn't hurt if it worked on any Necloth monster (including non-Rituals), in case you need to beat something that badly with Necloth Sorcerer or any other non-Ritual monster that Necloths may get.
