TCG+OCG just feels like such a YGO fanfiction it's not even funny, especially if we're doing this semi-seriously. I wouldn't mind this honestly, if not the enormous distinctions between TCG and OCG now - banlists, exclusives, and all of that crap.

The only reason we call it TCG+OCG is because of the cards.

Konami takes too fucking long to get exclusives between countries. We are merely playing in a gamestate that already has them.

In this case, the TCG gamestate.

  • 3 weeks later...

Ok, so starting from next week, I'm reviving this for reasons. I believe I found a solid middle ground for the TCG/OCG argument. A set becomes legal for play in here when 2 conditions are met:

1) Its TCG release date is confirmed

2) There is no additional banlists between now and the release date

Example 1:

Next week, Nekroz aren't legal yet since they release in February, and there's a banlist in January

Example 2:

Nekroz become legal in the tournaments since January banlist, since there's no more changes between then and their release

Makes sense?

What would your ruling be on pormos?

For example:  Snow Plow Hustle Rustle, Special Schedule, and Night Express Knight are all promo cards you got for purchasing a certain Zexal 3DS game.  This game was never release in America, but it was released in Europe, and so there are English copies of the cards.  However as far as DN is concerned this still leaves them as OCG exclusives.  This can raise questions, as for this example, at least Night Express Knight, and probably Special Schedule for most builds, are pretty much required to run Trains, so a ruling would have to be made on whether or not these count as OCG or TCG
