Xyz Dark Mage Knight (redesigned)

[I Hate Snatch Steal]

 

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 Warrior-Type monster and 1 "Xyz" card other then "Xyz Dark Mage Knight" from your Graveyard. Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects. If this card attacks an opponent's monster, it gains 1600 ATK during the Damage Step only. If this card is in your graveyard and was sent there from the field: you can discard 1 Warrior-Type monster; special summon 1 xyz monster from your extra deck whose level is less then or equal to that discarded monsters' level +2 and attach this card and up to 1 spell/trap card from your graveyard to it as xyz materials.

 

I figure its good summoning effect is balanced by the fact that you have to use a bunch of "Xyz" cards to make use of it.

 

The idea behind the effects are as follows:

Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects.

Without this, Number 101 and Castel will ensure that his last effect NEVER goes off. This effect was added after some YGO pro testing proved that.

 

If this card attacks an opponent's monster, it gains 1600 ATK during the Damage Step only.

Part of this card's inspiration was that it was a powerful mage knight who'd summon another monster if he was ever defeated, rather then a card meant to be used as tribute/summoning cost fodder or a wall in order to trigger its last effect. Being level 4 helps him be searchable, but I wanted him to be able to take on powerful monsters too.

 

If this card is in your graveyard and was sent there from the field: you can discard 1 Warrior-Type monster; special summon 1 xyz monster from your extra deck whose level is less then or equal to that discarded monsters' level +2 and attach this card and up to 1 spell/trap card from your graveyard to it as xyz materials.

This was the effect that I designed the rest of the card around. Having to be sent from the field lets you reuse the effect if you draw into call of the haunted or a similar card. Note that this effect cannot be used if he's in the graveyard from being an xyz material.
