ITT: Rituals~

ITT:

-Being a Ritual Monster is no longer akin to semi-nomi. Instead they can be Normal Summoned as if they were regular monsters (of their respective Level of course). Of course if a Ritual has further restrictions than just the standard Ritual Summoning, THOSE will be taken into account.

-However, Ritual Spell Cards that specifically Summon a certain name monster(s), can bring bring the Ritual Monster from the hand or Main Deck.

This means Advanced Ritual Art still needs to work with the Ritual Monster in hand, and so do the Attribute-specific ones.

Meanwhile Gishikis, Black Illusion Ritual, etc, don't.

Furthermore, Relinquished, Paladin of the White Dragon, or Doriado, can just be placed from the hand into the field.

It'd make them pretty much come out in a more consistently and carefully planned manner, much like all Extra Deck mechanics already do, but from the Main Deck, requiring a little bit more dedication still, but at the small plus of thinning the deck.

Let's be honest. A lot of the Ritual Monsters out there are not really worth the effort anymore, if they ever were. That or they end up requiring support that in any other place would be seen as downright broken, just to make-up for their mechanic's natural short-comings, and the fact that not even that makes them relevant enough says something.

The biggest potential issues would likely come from Gishiky cards, and it'd probably be better to give list attention to whatever the problem ends up being if it means giving the whole mechanic a chance to shine IMO.

Ritual Monster searchers would still have a use because:

-Level 4 or lower Rituals (or arguably even higher Level ones because Pendulum Summon).

-Self-discard Rituals from the new expansions.

-Ritual fodder itself.

-Non-specific Ritual Spells need them.

I do like the idea of Normal Summoning Rituals. While it would turn Rituals such as Relinquised into dangerous removal cards, it would make other low-Level Rituals normally not worth of being Ritual Summoned, such as Psychelone and Cu'chulainn, more playable. It also allows you to use the Ritual Monsters not named Necloth while you don't have the Ritual Spell at hand, instead of the cards sitting dead in the hand.

I have always insisted that Ritual Spells should be able to Ritual Summon from the deck to make them faster and more competitive. I usually compare this hypothetical change with 2-materials Synchro or Xyzs, because you would be losing equally -1 card for the Ritual Summon (as long as you use only 1 monster as Tribute).

And yeah, Gishkis and I bet Necloths as well would become a problem with these new mechanics, but as you pointed out, the problematic cards could be hit accordingly, for the sake of the lesser Ritual decks.
