Neutrality Man
A buddy of mine brought up a very good question: Why weren't Rituals Extra Deck cards? I felt it was good discussion fodder. Have at it.

Toffee.
Because nekroz were pre planned to be broken? To be fair, if Rituals were always Extra Deck monsters, it's unlikely that Nekroz would be a thing. Or at least, remain the same, because part of Nekroz is the Rituals doubling as hand traps/etc.
-Griffin
Because Konami used to be worse at mechanics design: It used to be the Fusion Deck, for Fusion Cards, and Rituals were never good (except maybe 1 or 2, I can't remember) but that didn't matter because the game wasn't remotely about how it was played competitively. They should have been. They weren't. Konami's got better at mechanics design - in some ways better at card design in general, but a victim of horrific power creep they do not intend to stop. They probably would be if Konami decided to go back to it, but I really doubt they will, especially since new Rituals have since been designed to be balanced around being main-deck. goodfusion
I am glad Rituals are not extra deck cards as they would basically be a cross between Synchro and Fusion monsters, and having them be in the main deck simply makes the mechanics more unique.
