Legislation something something limiting ISP privelages. Good stuff, but america is full of idiots, sooooooo

I'm seriously reading a bunch of comments from people about how Obama controls the internet and how this is all a conspiracy to shut down conservative websites.

I just... I can't...

All the bill does, is stop businesses from paying extra to get faster internet. It basically prohibits favoritism and forces everyone to be on the same page. In other words, everyone is treated as a regular customer, not split between regular/VIP, or w.e. Or at least, this was how it was explained on my local news.

It's good in theory, but some businesses really do need significantly faster internet than the rest of us do, its weird as fuck

The real key here is that providers cant throttle their service to MAKE companies pay more for faster internet speeds. For example what Comcast did to Netflix like last year.

Or slow other sites down to make fast lanes for others.

This is so fucking stupid, like why is this even a debate. The internet is a free and open space used by many different people from many different cultures and companies. No one entity, be it the US government or corporations, should have the ability to regulate it.

honestly can't tell if you're for or against net neutrality

your rhetoric's jumping ships

Against, but I also feel that what companies like Comcast are doing to Netflix is a dick move as well. I want to be given my wifi/bandwidth and then I want everyone to step off so I can enjoy my freaking internet.

Here is +1

No government can control the internet. Tim-Berners Lee agrees, so yeah.
