Flash Flyer - Sakura
To be honest, these can be placed in Casual; considering that they follow all of the standard card making rules. Experimental's more for new ideas and anime/manga-only things. Anyway, for Ivysaur/Venusaur, you need to mention WHERE you are summoning them from. By new wording, it's needed (usually it's from the hand, but just specify it to avoid confusion). Given the wording of the effect, it implies that you need to SS the evolutions; Ivysaur can get away with a Tribute since it's Level 5/6; Venusaur cannot, so probably better to have the whole line SS. As it stands though, they're basically just beaters. I understand that you're using Overgrow right now, and indeed they provide 50% to attacks in pinch situations (usually pinches are 2000 or something, but that's just me). Keep in mind that Yugioh is far beyond the days of beatsticks being predominant, and removal is VERY common. I assume you know about Silent Honors ARK Knight, or 101? Indeed, Ivysaur/Venusaur can be rather powerful upon summoning; moreso the latter, regardless 3300 / 4900 ATK is still a force to deal with. I would advise that you try to base their stats accordingly with what their Pokemon analogues are. (I seem to recall that Venusaur has a base 100 SpAtk/SpDef, which is not particularly bad, but certainly short of things). For Venusaur, I'd probably say lower its ATK to 2800-3000; still high enough, but just so it's a better fit. Factoring in its Pokemon stats, I'd say that 3300 ATK is a bit much for it. If we were using its Mega form, then perhaps it would be a better fit. --- Or instead of using their standard abilities, try using their HAs if available or can be adequately translated into Yugioh terminology. It is possible to do that. --- Now, OCG fixes. Bulbasaur If your LP is 2400 or lower, this card gains 500 ATK. Ivysaur Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 "Bulbasaur". If your LP is 2400 or lower, this card gains 1000 ATK. Venusaur Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 "Ivysaur". If your LP is 2400 or lower, this card gains 1600 ATK. (LP is proper wording for Life Points nowadays; makes it easier to write) ---- Theme-wise, it matches the Pokemon adequately; but considering the power creep, not so much. The summoning conditions are Semi-Nomi, so that you have a chance to revive things. While they can get powerful rather quickly, they are still prone to effect removal and require you to be in a pinch, so should be fine. Still, I'd tone down the evolution's power a bit. Otherwise, it's a good start.
Horu
Thanks for the tip. Yes I decided on overgrow because the other ability seemed to be total crap. These are in experimental because it's an experiment for the most part. I've never converted Pokemon over so I'm sorta experimenting with the idea. Horu
Maybe I could make the Overgrow/Blaze abilities only applicable when they attack something stronger than themselves? This way Venusaur would have to attack something like Berserk Dragon or Obelisk to get the ATK boost. This seems less broken in theory. Edited: Bulbasaur, Ivysaur and Venusaur's effects Added: Charmander's effect, Charmeleon and Charizard I may go past the 151 if this project works out well enough. Flash Flyer - Sakura
That would work, and more/less fits the game theme to an extent on attacks.
Horu
That's what I actually wanted. I don't think I'm gonna make the Mega Evolutions for a while. These cards are actually quite powerful and I haven't even touched up on Spell/Trap Cards yet.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
While I think the effects are somewhat cookie-cutter, because they're all stat boosters, that's how Blaze, Overgrow and Torrent work, so... Then again, Charizard has a decent HA, but still strong enough to fight things on his own with standard.
Horu
I really appreciate the cc since it gives me ideas on how to improve the effects without making them more abusive. Added: Squirtle-Fearow
