Don't hurt me please. I don't know what I'm doing when I make decks I just throw together what looks fun.

The idea basically is to always be able to rig my draws best I can, and make sure to get Talrand out there. From there proceed to continue to rig, bounce and counter, all while building my Drake army.

Ways to draw would be nice, but I'd have to lower some of my rigging spells...maybe the Invocation but it's nice to have. Maybe 4 Talrand is too much but he's easy to kill so. *shrugs*

 

Okay so...as the title says, casual deck. I know there's probably plenty of ways to optimize. Keep in mind that I don't like loading TOO many super expensive things...though I also don't know what costs what. ^^; It's not for irl but it still feels meh to do that. Blame my cousin's insistence at always having the most expensive things.

Comments and fixes will not be ignored, however if I feel it makes the deck less fun I might not use it, just a heads up. ^^

Oh. This is like a 60 card of one of my EDH decks. With 8 copies, I feel you should should have him consistently enough.

Ditch the invocations. They are flavorful, but redundant. Index hurts card advantage, and ultimately does little with both ponder and preordain.

Anyway, time for suggestions:
Serum visions
sleight of Hand
gitaxian probe
peek
Quicken
Gravity shift

Yeah I'll take out the Invocations. As for Index, I like how deep it lets me dig and how it can be used really anytime and costs one (easy always available Talrand fodder) so for now going down to 2 is what I'll try.

 

So of those in your list...which would you say is most important? (since this would free up 4 spots)

Yeah I'll take out the Invocations. As for Ponder, I like how deep it lets me dig and how it can be used really anytime and costs one (easy always available Talrand fodder) so for now going down to 2 is what I'll try.

I think you misread what he said. Ponder is AMAZING. Index is really bad. Cut those 4 and the 2 Invocations. From Gigaplant's list I'd say gitaxian probe. A free spell that can net you a 2/2 flier seems solid. after that I'd say Gravitational Shift should take the next 2 slots since it helps your fliers close out the game. I'd say 4 Probe and 2 Shift should be the split.
