The people of Earth have been getting strange reports of an odd creature roaming alongside the Ganges river in India. Reports from eyewitnesses of the creature's wanderings vary widely, but they all seem to agree on one thing... the creature is out for human blood. Superheroes have been around for thousands of years. In fact, they used to be a lot more prevalent. Those legendary figures of old? All SPPs (Super Powered People). SPPs don't only occur on Earth, however. All over the universe, supers rise and join a community that spans the vastness of space, the limits of time, and even the strangeness of alternate dimensions. However, in joining this universal community, they must give up being what they were to ascend to this higher plane. Now, any SPP who reveals themselves to the human race is put to death for the secret must be kept. The action of DNA altering and human experimentation, long considered immoral by many, made a huge leap in 2021 when India became the first country to approve of animal DNA modification. Higher ups in the governing bodies realized this potential and wished to use it to gain an upper hand on many other countries in the world. This is how Project Alpha began. Project Alpha involved the breeding of select Cobras together along with altering their DNA to give them an increased, human intelligence and survivability. This project went off without a problem and was thought to be a big success, until an order was issued all the way from the top. The project was to be cancelled and all super-cobras were to be killed. The scientists who had cared for these snakes had suddenly become executioners, freezing the snakes where they lay. Only one snake did they miss in their slaughter. That snake watched the killing of his entire super-cobra race with his near-human intelligence and an emotion emerged. The emotion of fury. This snake left this sanctuary-turned-butchery and turned its gaze northward. But destiny had a larger role for this creature to play. A soft red glow in the grass called the slithering animal towards it. In the grass, slightly buried in the dirt lay a blood red crystal. Without thinking, the snake swallowed it and thus became an SPP. This is his story. [spoiler='Plot'] This is a RP that has a certain planned direction and I hope to play out more like a story with multiple tellers then as a simple "character does this" with little impact. Several (ultimate) endings of the story have been planned out, but things can end up completely different based on your actions. Though it has been almost a year now, the snake who swallowed the crystal is still a relative unknown among the SPPs of Earth while to humans, it is something akin to a myth, like Bigfoot or Yeti. The SPP Council of Earth has been concerned over the creature's actions and are currently deciding what, if anything, they should do about him. He had been seen conversing with other animal SPPs, but the content of their discussion was unknown. In the meantime, Earth's School of SPPs located in the North Pole is celebrating its 2000th school year. Graduates who had spread all around the Universe are coming back to celebrate this achievement and the highlight of the event is a combat tournament to determine the most powerful SPP of the school. If you have two characters, and one dies, you are free to make another. [/spoiler] [spoiler='SPP Info'] SPPs are amazing beings that come into existence in one of two ways, being born and being made. SPPs can be born from two SPP parents, or one SPP and one non-SPP. The former shows earlier signs of their powers and are usually more powerful and live longer. Half-SPPs usually gain more positive traits from their non-SPP side and therefore usually have better natural ability, their powers tend to take longer to manifest and are usually more diluted than Pure-SPPs. SPPs are made when they come into contact with 1 of 3 crystals, pemalyte, rolyte, and oshalyte. Rolyte, a small, blood red crystal, is by far the most common, but usually has an association with conquerors since it enhances one's hidden desires. Pemalyte is a light blue crystal that does no more than give powers to the person who touches it. Though it hasn't been confirmed by SPP scientists, people believe that the powers given by pemalyte are slightly more potent than rolyte's given powers. Oshalyte is by far the rarest. It is an odd grey crystal that looks as though shadows are dancing within. Only 1 out of every 10,000 SPPs were blessed by having oshalyte-granted powers, and these SPPs make up some of the top percentage of all SPPs. Oshalyte is also known to dull one's desires so that they may look at things in the long term. SPPs also have certain natural powers immediately. They have the ability to fly, do not have to breathe, can (upon some effort) see auras, and can stand much hotter and cooler temperatures. (Values for increased natural ability based on human-SPPs, though other species have a similar gain) Upon becoming an SPP, a person's natural ability increases drastically. They can run upwards to 40 MPH, can lift a ton, and their IQ near doubles. (more info later as needed...) [/spoiler] [spoiler='App'] SPP Name: (this name usually refers to the power but not always. Pemalyte - A light blue crystal that emits Delta waves. Rolyte - A blood red crystal that emits Delta waves. Often associated with conquerors/villains. Oshalyte - A shadowy grey crystal that emits Delta waves. Not much is known about it. Delta Waves/Radiation - A radiation emitted by certain crystals that provides SPPs with their powers. Only recently identified. Yemmyte - A bright yellow crystal that saps Delta radiation. Also absorbs SPP power. Darknesse Ivy/Oak - A shadowy plant grown by the Creator of rolyte. It saps all unnatural abilities from a being and also burns with an excruciating pain when it does. Potential - The maximum natural capability of an SPP. Only a few SPPs have ever reached their potential. Potential Lock - At every 25% of their max potential, an SPP is met with an internal barrier. Until they are able to break through that barrier, an SPP is limited to only that quarter of their full power. There is a rumor of one who can open potential locks...
