1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

If this card was Synchro Summoned, your opponent cannot activate the effects of monsters with the same original Attribute as the Attribute of a "Yang Zing" monster used for the Synchro Summon of this card. When this Synchro Summoned card is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can add 1 Tuner monster from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, when a monster(s) your opponent controls is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Wyrm-Type monster from your Deck in Defense Position, whose Attribute is the same as at least 1 of the original Attributes those destroyed monsters had.

Still ridiculously unfair, even post CORE. Especially on DN rated, where Lightsworn is one of the most popular decks. It hard counters a TON of stuff, but it doesn't immediately hard counter off Jiaotu is Aromages and Igknights (and the latter is why the deck runs Ignister Prominence). While there are definitely plays around it and it's not 100% infallible (again, depending on the deck), it's still hilarious against Lightsworn against a TON of decks. But that's just the lockout effect. the second effect is pretty weak, but the third effect is surprisingly powerful. This and a Yazi make beautiful music together, snowballing to ridiculous lengths and most of the time getting another synchro summon out of the deal.

Pendulum Effect

You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "Yang Zing" and "Zefra" monsters. This effect cannot be negated.Monster Effect

If this card is Pendulum Summoned, or Special Summoned from the Main Deck: You can target 1 "Yang Zing" or "Zefra" monster you control, except "Zefraxi, Treasure of the Yang Zing"; that monster is treated as a Tuner monster this turn, also place this card on the bottom of the Deck when it leaves the field. You can only use this effect of "Zefraxi, Treasure of the Yang Zing" once per turn.

I've been severely underrating this guy. while it's still a 1-of at best, creation now gives you access to higher levels of synchro summon on the opponent's turn. Suanni and this make 7 (moonlight, BRD, Yazi, Clear Wing), taotie and this make Baxia/Ignister (the latter somewhat irrelevant, but certain decks REALLY hate it). Obviously this and Zefraniu make Chaofeng, but the flavor of the month right now isn't earth, so it's almost always suboptimal. Plus you can't do that on your opponent's turn. But being able to moonlight rose away a Construct or just nuke the field on the opponent's turn is always a huge plus. Still at 1, because drawing it just shits on everything I just said. While I might consider 2 copies, I will have to test more to see.

Pendulum Effect

Monster Effect

When this card is Pendulum Summoned, or when this card is destroyed by battle or card effect while in your Monster Zone: You can add 1 "Yang Zing" or "Zefra" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Zefraniu, Secret of the Yang Zing" once per turn.

He's a Level 6 Yang Zing. That's honestly it. Searching path off Yazi plays is cute, but really he has a big ass and a big level. If he didn't MISS THE FRIGGIN TIMING he'd be a lot better, but there you have it. Being a Level 6 is huge though: It give Chiwen access to Yazi/ your entire Level 7 lineup and Jiaotu access to Baxia/Ignister Prominence. It also helps you climb into a LIGHT!Chaofeng through Jiaotu by tuning Baxia with Chiwen. Being able to go to the extra deck is minor, but I tech Zefrassaults, so it's pretty helpful for that.

So anyway discuss these three under the context of YZ competing post-CROS (TCG) and post-CORE (OCG)

I am lightly confused as to why TCG Konami projected these guys to be T1.

I mean, yeah, this guy's broken, but the rest of the deck is lacking, still.

The deck is radically overreliant on Jiaotu. I think that's what they tried to fix with Zefraxi, but it's a dead draw enough that it kind of mitigates that, and needs too much space to be good in Zings on its own. Who knows, someone might find an ultra consistent way of making this Turn 1/2 against any t1 deck and completely lock them out of the game.

Tier 1?

I thought they projected Noble Knights as Tier 1, and Zings as Tier 2.

Konami projected this as Tier 1?

What else were they projecting?

Nope, they projected both as T1, at different times.

I think they said by the end of 2014 or 2015 for Yang Zings, but it seems weird that they'd get more support after this.

I feel like Yang Zing is one of those Decks that can be extremely potent and effective in game 1, but once you have the opportunity to side against it, it's shut down hard.  The Deck has a few broken pieces, but it's still reliant far too much on combos to be a consistent Deck.  That said, cards like Banisher of the Radiance/Dimensional Fissure/Macro Cosmos (obviously the latter two are at 1) have been the best counter for me.
