The Nyx Avatar
The only good Rank 2 Xyz to use in battle for attack purposes is Sky Cavalry Centaurea. So let's change that. Leave any suggestions. LORE:This card is unaffected by your opponent's Spell/Trap effects the turn it is Xyz Summoned. While this card is face-up on the field, negate the effects of all Rank 3 or higher monsters on the field. If this card would be destroyed by a card effect, you can discard 1 monster instead. Once per turn, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; increase this card's ATK by 500.
randomguyjw
it seems like a good R2 because it negates the effects all R3 and higher monsters, with a max of 3200, it is a power house, however, if i would use this card, it would belong in my side deck, purely because it only negates Xyz monsters. (that or i'm mis-reading it)
The Nyx Avatar
Would it be better if it negates Level/Rank 3 or higher, or would that make it too overpowered?
Not-so-Radiant Arin
Good =/= Broken. Not only does it have protection from effects during the turn it's Summoned, it also has built in protection from everything else. Given that it also tops out as a 3200 beater, this thing will just clobber your opponent and they won't be able to do anything about it. Please tell me how you can realistically stop a 3200 ATK monster that has built in protection in the form of a measly discard? Also, the fact that you completely disregard Rank 2s only for combat purposes is incredibly ignorant. Daigusto Phoenix allows any card to attack twice. That's not good to you? The Nyx Avatar
To answer your last question: no. As for the rest, Black Horn of Heaven, Solemn Warning, and any other card that negates Summons would send Akahime of Ninetails even before its first effect would be established. You can also activate any Spell/Trap cards to return it to the hand, banish it, or send it to the Graveyard. As for destroying by card effect, it depends if you have monsters in your hand. Miror B
To answer your last question: no. You can also activate any Spell/Trap cards to return it to the hand, banish it, or send it to the Graveyard. As for destroying by card effect, it depends if you have monsters in your hand. Counters =/= balanced. You gave rank 2s a 2700 beater with full spell/trap immunity when you summon it, can prevent it's destruction at a small cost, and acts as a one sided skill drain for any deck that runs Xyz. Look at your Rank 4 Xyz and you'll see barely any of them break the 2500 ATK barrier without conditions. Rank 3s have monsters this high, but they either have no other useful effects or hurt you for using them. And no, you can't use any Spell/Trap effects to return/banish/send to the Grave on the turn it's summoned. So it's guaranteed to stick around for a turn and beat something up. The card isn't very good design, you might barely skirt by in the current metagame with Nekroz and Shadolls being top (meaning no Xyz except very rare cases), but once that meta shifts he holds back an entire game mechanic. Hello my name is Enguin
The argument that it can be countered so it's fair has been decidedly rejected many times. It basically nullifies Xyz, is disproportionately difficult to remove given how easy it is to get out and on top of that can reach 3200 the turn after it's summoned. Rank 2s are hardly weak anyway, Raccoon is basically the best card ever printed extremely versatile and produces beatsticks from nowhere and Gachi Gachi is a good wall. There are others of course but those two spring immediately to mind. Gachi Gachi in Ojamas with Country out especially.
The Nyx Avatar
I've now made its ATK 2000. Also, what you mentioned about Gachi Gachi: I made Akahime of Ninetails as an attacker, as opposed to a wall. It's meant to attack, not support other monsters you control when they attack.
