LiAM
Long time no see, I wanted to talk about art. This is one of my recent artworks. My question is, what is your responce? From an art or outsider perspective. Some questions to help you out but you can respond however you want.Do you draw any ideas from it? What thoughts come to mind? What does it mean? Is there something being said? Does it seem 'mature'? What can you tell about me from this art? Which famous artists does it remind you of? I have more art and graphic design work here; http://bravelittlepixelart.tumblr.com/

TheWhiteWizard
Not to be mean or anything, but this type of thing bugs me. It is "abstract ". I am sorry but it is random things that some one put together to sell for a lot of money. It has meaning, what people make trash. Something hand painted, something hand drawn, something you carve or mold or sculpt. Something more. This is just my opinion, I am not trying to be mean.https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByNuxJ9CG_gEc3NEcDFHNU9SaTQ/edit?usp=docslist_apihttps://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByNuxJ9CG_gEQnRzdzZCaElGdVU/edit?usp=docslist_api Some of my original pieces. Abstract artists are much more interested in the co-relation of different parts of a canvas (or sculpture in this case) and how they come together to create a working piece. you obviously have quite the lack of understanding for the purpose and meaning of abstract art. Susie
Like I said its just my opinion, I don't like that area and I explained my thoughts. you said things that were just generalizing the form of art, if you dont like it then thats fine, but saying things like "it is random things that some one put together to sell for a lot of money." is just narrow-minded. your thoughts on Abstraction are just brought upon generalizing the form of art and it just shows a lack of understanding for what the form of art stands for, go read an Art History book and get a better grasp at what abstraction really means. TheWhiteWizard
I didn't say it wasn't art, I really was saying i don't like this art form. I want something more.
Susie
I didn't say it wasn't art, I really was saying i don't like this art form. I want something more. never said you accused it of not being art, im saying that youre accusing there being no weight behind the art form. trust me i understand why you cant get into abstraction and i get that its a difficult form of art for some to really truly appreciate, ive known plently of people who find it difficult to understand what abstract art really is. yes you can just go home and slap whatever you want and call it abstract, but trust me if you were to do that you would never be happy with what you came out with until your 100th piece. people who do abstract art are able to use shapes, lines, color and their placement in order to corelate with what they feel inside and what surrounds them as well as use those principles of design inorder to play around with the perception and emotions of the viewer of the piece. there is a lot more to abstract art than what you seem to think there is. TheWhiteWizard
I can see it being really cool, but to me it depends on how is made, the detail and the effort. I said too me so don't get defensive.
Sethera
My eye keeps getting drawn to the design near the center of the coil (in front of and a little to the left of the mirror). I mean, it could have just been a random thing, but it could also have been done purposefully. If so, I wonder what it's supposed to mean...I noticed it seems to be hanging from the top of the coil, suspended in air, which evokes images of hangman, but a couple of other wires seem to form a crescent moon shape around it, which is a lot more pleasant. Idk but neat.
Susie
oh yeah forgot to talk about the piece itself, its pretty decent. the tinfoil ontop of the mirror gives off a nice contrast of texture. i like how were able to see you taking the picture in the reflection, it really fills up the space. the hanging metal coil knot is very odd, but not in a way thats distracting but rather in a way that its intriguing. the only thing that kind of bothers me is the 3 CDs, they dont look like they fit in with the rest of the piece. i also really enjoy how monochrome the piece is, gives of a nice sense of control and balance within the chaos of the piece. Cosmo.
Well that is certainly unique... I'm not a big fan of abstract art but this one is fine, the things that i like the most is that this is recycled (or at least they are all recyclable materials) and i also really like the spiraly thing near the center of the coil.
