Ritual Beast Tamer Zeframpilica (and other Ritual Beasts)

Really I only chose Zeframpilica because it's the cutest, this is more of a discussion on the deck in general.

I said I considered them to be on the same level of decks like Tellars and Burning Abyss rather than stuff like Yosenju and Volcanics, and I'm relatively sure of this claim. They have a ton of notable advantages such as the ability to main banish floodgates as well as obviously to win basically any game regardless of opponent's hand/deck if they open Cannahawk and a way to get a tamer on board. They brick a lot, but if you can optimise the consistency (and get lucky) I think they're a reasonable pick for any event, particularly considering they're the cheapest good deck.

Yosenju are tier 0 tho. They activate 6 floodgates and summon rai-oh and instantly win every time obviously.
Also, have we mentioned that the deck loses kinda badly to Lose 1 turn? I don't even think that this is a valid point anymore, at this rate, every deck that can't main it, just loses to it.

You're not wrong, but you play 5 Elder in a 37-card deck so your chances of seeing it are pretty good. With Gaiapelio it also means that Rampengu's basically as good as Cannahawk, so you can open a nuts combo a reasonable amount of the time and otherwise your grind game isn't completely useless.

Doesn't this deck just kind of lose to most maindecked floodgates right now though? Like Mistake seems like a major pain due to how reliant the deck is on resolving Ulti-Cannahawk. I think the floodgates need to get hit first before this deck becomes incredibly good. Either that or DiFi/Macro go up.

That's a massive problem with the deck right now. Mistake has gained a lot of favour recently because of nekroz etc, so has l1t in decks that can run it. Vanity shuts you down as well pretty hard. So yeah, this deck isn't having a fun time ATM in that respect.

The only decks that can maindeck Mistake have pretty bad RB matchups anyway, since Shaddoll lose to Fissure and Macro and aren't even that good without it because as long as you open a reasonable hand and like, Yang Zing lose to Fissure and Macro too, although they might be a bit better against the deck in general? idk. L1T's a far bigger issue, they lose to Qli unless they go first and open Elder Cannahawk.

Fissure and Macro are two cards out of 40 though, they can run loads of floodgates that stop you.

I would imagine that Shaddoll would be an incredibly difficult match-up for this deck though, considering how them making a Winda is near enough good game unless you can get the Dolphin fast enough, but even then that's super difficult for this deck to be able to do when they're only allowed 1 SS a turn.

The trouble is that Winda's a big momentum-killer for Shaddoll and, while it's a small obstacle it does lose to Apelio once you get a ritual beast in grave, it's not like Tellars or Burning Abyss which absolutely need a backrow out. T1 Fissure is also more or less an instant scoop if you can get round the initial Winda especially game 1 where they don't have MSTs.

Soul Drain still lets Nekroz Ritual Spells and monsters to hit the grave which allows Valk and the spells to still go off. You can play Mind Drain too but Shaddolls and BA aren't hurt by it so I dunno. Not to mention Qlis can play all 3 Drains and not be hurt by any. Trying to make good meta calls is pretty difficult right now since one deck is not hurt by the cards that hurt the others.

You bring up too many variables. Yeah, the deck is good. If you don't meet floodgates, if you don't brick, if they have no response. I like the deck and I played it a lot, but IMO it's just not too good. Commonly sided cards like Mistake, Skill Drain, Vanity's, Veiler, all hit you so damn hard. I mean, it's no argument, but if your combo piece gets negated, you CAN'T get off anymore that turn and your opponent literally gets a free turn. Plus if you don't open some combination of Elder + Cannahawk/Rampengu, Lera/Pillica + Foolish or Wen + Sarc, you're in biiiig trouble. Yeah, you can mitigate that in multiple ways, like Terraforming -> Oracle of Zefra or Brain Research Lab or Upstart, but I still feel it doesn't cut it a lot of the time.

It's biggest con that I can think of is simply that it's not stable enough for bigger events. No matter how much you optimize the deck, it would still have that certain sizable chance of bricking too badly to do anything. While it wouldn't matter as much on a smaller tournaments, maybe regonals too, bigger events would rather have more stable decks due to how many matches would be played there. It's just how things are.

It's a viable pick (and more importantly, cheap), and a powerful one at that which has the ability to get tops, but this unstability (side deck doesn't outright murder RBs tbh) is the biggest thing that held them back.

By the way, don't forget that Rampengu+Ambush is a good/decent opening now. Early game veiler/negation plain sucks, yes, (as also IIW/Lancea) but other than that, the deck generally have a good matchup all around. Though how much the current era side deck hates RB is also an issue, but not as much.

BA are hurt by it. Their "SS from hand" effect starts a chain and is an effect. Mind Drain will stop that. It's still a mediocre card however.
