TheOneToughNerd Posted June 7, 2015 Report Share Posted June 7, 2015 I decided to try my hand at designing an actual card instead of keeping my ideas cooped up in my head. The first cards I went with are a pair of generic Pendulum Monsters from a fic I've been working on. Basically, the main character is a Pendulum user (a minority in his reality), and is tired of the exclusivity of Pendulum Monsters. So, he enters a tournament in which the winner can use a card generator to create any card he wishes. He eventually wins and decides to create a set of cards for public distribution rather than one, all-powerful card for himself. He feels that Pendulum Summoning should be an option that ALL duelists should be able to choose and that Pendulum Summoning shouldn't be considered a separate form of play, but rather a supplement that can add a new element to ANY style of play and to ANY deck, regardless of Archetype. These cards are partially inspired by the "Pendulum Statue" cards from the Arc-V anime, but I decided to take them all and smash them into a smaller concept that could be considered as generic as possible. So, without further ado...here they are, the Arc Incarnates:

In summary: PENDULUMS FOR EVERYONE!!! Any comments are appreciated. Enjoy! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Flash Flyer - Sakura Posted June 7, 2015 Report Share Posted June 7, 2015 You do realize why a lot of the really low/high Scale Pendulums have restrictions on their usage (or drawbacks in a few cases), right? Because then every single relevant card in the game can be P-Summoned by said scales. Qliphorts are Scale 1/9; they're restricted to P-Summoning their own members. Yuya's Magicians (1/8) change themselves to 4 if you have no other cards [or outmatch your opponent in field advantage, due to Creation]. Yosenjus can hit Scale 11, but that's only for the purpose of Daibakaze. ---- So yeah, it's a really bad idea to make Scale 0/13 Pendulums, especially because they can be abused to no end by nearly every Deck. While yes, the anime did have generic ones that went up to 12; that was for the purpose of plot development. (Then again, the highest you'd probably summon is Level 10 with Ultimate Obedient Fiend / Koitsu or some other things people don't run; other monsters have Nomi conditions) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
TheOneToughNerd Posted June 7, 2015 Author Report Share Posted June 7, 2015 Yeah, I realize the abuse-ability of these. I guess that may have been the point, since they were created in a fictional setting, but I guess I could give them more restrictions. Then again, you're right in thinking that the biggest monster threat would come from something like Ultimate Obedient Fiend. That was part of my thinking: despite the full Scale, there are VERY few heavy hitters that could actually abuse it because of their own Summoning restrictions. I'll update when I come up with some kind of restriction. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
SirReal Posted June 8, 2015 Report Share Posted June 8, 2015 Your monster effect doesn't specify from where they would be destroyed, so MST effectively does nothing (unless that was part of the plan.) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Flash Flyer - Sakura Posted June 9, 2015 Report Share Posted June 9, 2015 Generally speaking, we assume that it's on the field when it's destroyed. Aside from maybe Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin or something, cards aren't destroyed in the hand. Hopefully you also know that while it is a Pendulum, the Spell Card effect will be in effect; not the searching one. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
SirReal Posted June 9, 2015 Report Share Posted June 9, 2015 While it's off the field, the monster effect applies. In the OCG Qiuniu needed an errata to specify that it needs to be destroyed from the monster zone to go off. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~~ Posted June 10, 2015 Report Share Posted June 10, 2015 I agree with your main character that more generic Pendulums would be really nice. Personally, I would sort of like Pendulum monsters to replace other monsters completely similar to how Effect monsters have replaced Normal monsters. However, these two cards not only make all other Pendulums redundant, but are LIGHT Fairies and thus benefit from a lot of support on that end. Also, their effects are quite simple and I think they could be made more interesting. Generic doesn't have to mean straightforward. But, as I said, I love the core idea of these cards. Proper splashable (not Staple like these) Pendulums would be amazing! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
