Irrational Fears

Is there anything that you're afraid of, but really shouldn't be? Fears that don't make any sense?

I'm afraid of being in deep, open water. In a trip to the Bahamas, my group and I went to a tourist site called the Ocean Hole; it's an ocean inlet that is incredibly deep. No one has reached the bottom, and no one is sure where to the ocean it connects. I was absolutely terrified of getting in, and thought the others were insane to swim from one side to the next.

i cant really think of anything other than how i used to have a phobia of dreams but i overcame that sometime last year after reading up on dream meanings, it was a great time in my life as i finally got my sleep back.

Bees. Just bees. I have never been harassed, stung or otherwise by any bee ever but I am deathly afraid of them. Like jump in the trashcan and hide afraid.

Also giant eyeballs. Its why despite me really liking the ocean, things like whales and giant squids scare the crap out of me and will avoid them in science oriented conversations if I can.

I think I'll echo thalassophobia myself.

Remember, bumps are every 24 hours, not within half an hour!

My bad, wasn't aware of that one. Edited said bump.

Agreed on the ocean...I find it infinitely beautiful and intriguing, and just as much absolutely terrifying.

And hornets, wasps, all those fuckers.

I'm always a tad apprehensive around animals, but stinging insects are the worst since they're fast and can fly in your face.

Hornets/wasps are worse, because they can keep stinging you as much as they freaking want. No one-time usage like bees.

Fire. Also electricity (uncontrolled electricity--like lightning). Not sure if this counts as "doesn't make any sense" but when everybody else is thrilled to play with bunsen burners or watching a lightning storm I'm always huddling in the back. Campfires, oddly enough, don't make me feel fear (I think it's the fact that I don't have to be right next to it and that it's controlled).

Also ants. I hate those things. They're everywhere, they bite, and they outnumber us. What's not to fear from them?
