Trap Counter
(1) When a “Frightfur” monster(s) you control is targeted by an opponent’s monster effect or Spell/Trap Card: Negate that activation, and if you do destroy it. Then, you can apply the following effect.
-Send the targeted “Frightfur” monster to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 8 or higher “Frightfur” Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck (this is treated as a Fusion Summon), but banish it during your next End Phase.

Ouch. This card is...interesting.

Unlike the anime version, it actually destroys the card it negates. However, this version also sends the target to the Graveyard and essentially performs a Fusion Summon of a Level 8+ Fusion. I assume the Frightfurs have a hidden rule when designing them that the Level 8+ Fusions are Fusions using a Frightfur, as Chimera and Sabre Tiger are the only Level 8 Fusions (and Sabre isn't out yet).

And then you banish it during your next End Phase. I think the card's OKAY, but not good.

The way it is worded right now, the second effect is entirely optional. So you only send the target to the grave if you actually want to.

Negates any effect that targets, which is very good. And being a Counter Trap, this is a big middle finger to a lot of scrap. Shame Nekroz of Trishula still laughs at it with its non-targeting BS.

So it is. I actually might play it now.

Yeah, the second effect is optional, but part of what made the card awesome in the anime was not only did Sora counter Dark Rebellion's OTK effect, but he brought 2 more Frightfurs and boosted them to ridiculously high ATK. I'm not surprised the real version isn't going to let you pull off the same trick, since even the anime version implied that the targeted monster is supposed to be used for the Fusion Summon (Sabre Tiger being the result all but confirming that), but it just makes the card that much weaker because you actually DO have to give up the targeted monster.

I'd say it's the banish part that really hurts the card, in my opinion. Chimera isn't even GOOD, and unless Sabre Tiger is also getting released (probably) and is amazing, it just feels unneeded and too restricted to help the Deck significantly.

Hmm. Well, Frightfurs are all DARK, right? How's this for an idea: Escape from the Dark Dimension? Can recur whatever this banishes, as well as snag back Edge Imps you used with Frightfur Fusion or something that fell to Bottomless or D Prison or Trish and the like.

It only works with Sheep, Bear and Tiger, the others can't be Special Summoned other than Fusion Summons.
