Sou Yurugi, the editor-in-chief for the MF Bunko J imprint of Kadokawa (Media Factory), announced that the imprint has decided to continue the Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero) light novel series.

Author Noboru Yamaguchi was planning the end of the light novel series before he passed away due to cancer in 2013. According to MF Bunko J, he dictated the remaining plot of the series, including its ending, from his sickbed and entrusted it to the editors.

The editors acknowledged that the publisher has received a steady stream of requests to continue the series from fans, and added that the late novelist's family also expressed their desire that the series be completed.

This is the best news I've heard in a long time. I was devastated when I first learned the author had passed away, and was incredibly disappointed that the series would never be finished. However it looks like that won't be the case anymore. I really liked the anime and how it ended, but it's quite different from the books and I'll be excited for the series to get a true ending.
