[spoiler=Spell of Silence (Errata)]Negate the effects of all face-up monsters currently on the field. You can only activate 1 "Spell of Silence" per turn.

You might be thinking "Why is there an errata'd card in the Custom Cards section?" Well I figured if real cards where getting errata's, why not try with one of my own? Specifically this old one. So for this card I'm asking you to grade two things, the card itself, and the errata (which is underlined). Is the card still good? Did the Errata go too far or not enough?

Thoughts?

It is still technically a Skill Drain, just that it only affects stuff that exists on the field at the time you activate this.

Though the thing this has over Skill is that it can be played right away + lacks an LP cost. That, and the monsters stay negated until they either get flipped face-down or leave the field otherwise.

Personally, I am not a fan of free instant negation; I would suggest adding a cost to it; much like what Skill does to an extent.

Indeed, I could probably see this sided to deal with certain Decks, but as a whole, it's simple enough in its application.

That, or whatever Skill Drain Deck exists.

As for the errata, it'll help to curb spamming negation; but it's unlikely that you'll trigger more than one per turn anyway.

In a way, it doesn't really do much (I can see you using a second copy to stop any new monsters that get summoned that turn, but that's it [likely will happen, given how much certain cards like floating]).

The thing with Skill Drain is it's a continuous effect, Spell of Silence is a temporary one, like a light drizzle over the field compared to a long monsoon. Maybe have something like "You can only activate this card while you have a face-up Effect Monster"? You could still use it for cards like, I dunno, Barbaros, but it would make it a little more difficult to set up.

My other thought for the errata was Only one "Spell of Silence" can be activated per turn. to turn it into a kind of guessing game. "Does my opponent have one set? Should I activate mine now or later?" That sort of thing. Would that be better?
