Lore: When this card declares an attack against an opponent's monster, toss a coin and call it. If you call it right, triple this card's ATK but halve the Battle Damage this card inflicts to your opponent during damage calculation only. When this card is targeted for an attack, toss a coin and call it. If you call it right, negate the attack. You can only control 1 "Swordsman with a Grudge - Rutger".

I just got back to playing Fire Emblem games, so I thought I'd commemorate this with a card based on one of my favorite characters from that series: Rutger from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade.

The title is based on his hatred for Bern, the main villainous kingdom in his game of origin.

He's Level 4 because that is the level he is at when you recruit him in his game of origin.

His ATK is 1600, which is his starting Strength stat, 7, plus his starting weapon's Might, which is 9, multiplied by 100.

His DEF is 500, which is his starting Defense stat multiplied by 100.

His effects are based on common traits that his Fire Emblem class, Myrmidons, have: High Critical Hit chances (Critical Hits multiply your damage by 3, hence the ATK tripling effect) and high Speed/Avoid (Which is represented by the attack negating effect), while his "only control 1" clause is based on the fact that there's only one of him in the whole game.

CnC?

A "Flip a coin" effect is fair; however, tripling its ATK's probably too much. Then again, I'm no expert.

The effect is only triggered in battles against other monsters. So it can't be tripled when initiating a direct attack, if that balances things out any.

The problem is the damage it can ensue as a result though. Like if you get it right attacking into say a Dante, that's 3800 damage right there already. Winda? 2600. Forerunner? 2200. It adds up to get really out of hand. And it has 50% chance. Either just flat out destroy the monster or have it do half damage, That will keep most of the insanity and OTK potential out of the way

Good point.

I'll halve the battle damage the effect causes.
