Sparks of the Phoenix

A rather simple burn card for Pyro and FIRE Decks.

If a FIRE or Pyro-Type monster(s) your control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or card effect) and sent to the Graveyard: Target 1 of those monsters in the Graveyard; inflict damage to your opponent equal to its Level/Rank x 200, then if your opponent took 1000 or less, you can add 1 "Sparks of the Phoenix" from your Deck to your hand.

I think this is a pretty fair card overall. You seem to have been very conscious with its design.

Checks and balances:

Burn card: Yes, it is a burn card, however, it isn't a conventional one which leads into my next point.

Monster reliant: Because it's reliant on a specific type/attribute of monster, it cannot simply be splashed in decks like chain burn.

Quick-play/specific timing: Being quick-play could have made it crazy, but since it has a specific activation timing, it is quite tame.

Only acts on opponent destruction: Very critical as there are a few FIRE cards that wouldn't mind blowing themselves up if it included burn.

Searches itself: I would've said that this card is underpowered had it not had this final effect. It makes itself a 0 in advantage on any level/rank 5 or lower FIRE destruction.

All in all, I think it is an extremely fair card, but I don't think that would warrant its use. It kinda depends on the monster being destroyed. If it is, say, a UFO turtle or a Fencing Fire Ferret who pay for themselves, then this card would be brilliant, tacking on an extra 800 damage + some thinning alongside the destroyed monster's effects. The fact that it doesn't work for FIRE Pendulums also hurts its playability.

I don't think this card is good. Searching a copy of itself for deck thinning and more burn is cute, but still, as a card that only burns it doesn't offer any card advantage. Then, the condition makes it slow and difficult to play, as you cannot even destroy FIRE/Pyros with your own effects to set this off, and there is also the risk of this card ending as a dead draw(s).

By the way, it reminds me of "Kickfire".

What do you suggest to make it better?

I got a couple of ideas.

1. Make it more flexible by changing its activation condition to either when a FIRE or Pyro is destroyed, OR is sent to the grave. The latter option could work nicely in Infernoids. Also, make it apply on monsters from both sides of the field, so this will be more live if the opponent happens to be running FIRE or Pyros, including a Fire/Ice Hand engine.

2. Make the card search regardless of the damage inflicted. That ensures it becomes a +0 and break even in terms of card advantage, no matter how much damage it inflicts.

3. Unbind the search effect from the burn effect a make it trigger when the spell is sent to grave. Again, this change could make the card more appealing for Infernoids when they mill this with  Reasoning, Raiden, etc. It would also trigger when used as discard fodder.

4. Finally, this may be a more questionable change, but you could make it search for "Phoenix" Spell/Traps instead. That way, in addition to searching for a copy of itself, it can pick cute tech such as Phoenix Blade or Phoenix Wing Blast.
