So I have been using this card in Phantom Knights and as a Rank 4, he is pretty strong against monster-centric decks like Lightsworns. And if used with Gloves (after being revived by Broken Sword) a 3350 beater that is immune to monster effects is pretty scary. 

Also fits the theme with a horse.

I always liked this guy, wish it had a bit more ATK though, since I don't see many times where this would be worth it, so I always leave it out, even when it's a DARK Deck I play.

Indeed a jewel for phantom knights, being droppable after using using the 2 level 4 monsters or much better after using break sword.

Well now you can use rugged glove (as the op already mentions) to buff him to 3.35k ATK, which should make him strong enough to withstand most monster threats.

Including JD and BLS.

Sure, but other Decks don't have the ability to do that, at least not in a matter that's actually decent.
