Some of our boys think so.  Some don't mind.  Personally, I think this is more of a contract thing than anything else.  We use to screen people for pot back in Reagan's days to keep people from getting jobs, and it was no issue.  Why not now?  Thoughts?

Well weed shouldn't be illegal...that's just the right being dumbasses

I think it should be less about catching those who are taking illegal drugs, because it's pretty silly how some drugs are legal and some aren't, as most are just as bad as each other, but rather that making sure Police officers aren't full of drugs that make them not do their jobs properly.

Have you ever done weed? It's not like it makes you a raving lunatic. It should be treated no worse than a blue who is slightly intoxicated. funking BS and humiliating to question the men and women who put their lives on the line day in and day out to keep us safe

Are you trying to justify cops smoking weed? Either way I'm sure it'll affect their judgment. And as someone who has allergic reactions to the second hand smoke that it produces, I hope it remains illegal...

I'm saying it should be

1) No worse than a cop drunk on the job

2) We should not be doubting the men and women who we already trust with lethal force

Overall, whether or not weed is negative (not going to make any statements on that), I want my city's police to be sober. It's not so much an issue of legal vs. illegal; it's more so wanting police to be in a proper state of mind to be making good decisions. This isn't saying something like pot is bad; but I am saying it does affect your decision making and mindset, and in the case of being a police officer on duty it's very much preferred that they're in a clear state of mind to be able to make right decisions.

1) Well both are pretty bad for cops to do and shouldn't happen

2) Yes we should. Or at least we should take precautions. Blindly trusting people you don't actually know is never a good thing.

It just seems silly, you give them the ability to end lives, then you doubt them in such an insulting manner. Just seems like a double standard

Trusting them with the ability to end lives is a bit silly to me in the first place. Well, at least, giving total trust to do so.

But yes, I see where you're coming from.

I actually respect cops quite a fair bit, but I still think this should already be happening in one way or another because, as CowCow said

Blindly trusting people you don't actually know is never a good thing.

I dont see the harm in making sure the people who's job it is to uphold the law are actually in a sound enough state of mind to do so while on duty. Weed might not make you "dangerous", but it sure enough impairs your ability to make judgements, as does pretty much everything legally classified as a drug (and alcohol)
