Elemental HERO Life Guardna

lv 4 EARTH

Warrior/Effect

If you were about to be dealt effect or battle damage: you can discard this card from your hand; increase your life points equal to the amount you would of taken instead. While this card is in your graveyard: you do not have to pay Life Points to activate a Normal Spell or Trap Cards. You can only activate each effect of "Elemental HERO Life Guardna" once per turn, during either players turn.

So as long as this guy is in the graveyard, you don't have to pay LP for normal Spell/Trap.... Free Hero Lives. Free Instant Fusion. Free Ancient Leaf if ur LP is high enough. See the point it's just not healthy for the game.

To be fair the no cost on stuff like A HERO Lives and Instant Fusion is only once per turn meaning after you first use it you will still need to pay for the cost of the next card.

But your effect is a lingering one, ur card text says while he's in the graveyard. It's not an activated effect, like gem knight seraphinite effect isn't activated. It's just that inherent effect that lingers. See if it had to banish itself for the effect it would be different but it permanently lingers

The current wording on the graveyard effect looks a lot like a continuous one, but you want it to be an activated effect, so that would be...

During either player's turn, if you would take battle or effect damage: You can discard this card from your hand; gain that much LP instead. If you would pay LP to activate a Normal Spell/Trap Card, and this card is in your Graveyard: You can activate this effect; you do not have to pay LP for that activation. You can only activate each effect of "Elemental HERO Life Guardna" once per turn.

 

Paying LP is an important limitation for some cards, and even though there are no normal spells or traps that seem to immediately break this card, I don't like the idea of a card that cheats the cost of those cards for the rest of the duel while having no cost and being generic. If this were real, it'd limit future card design and basically be a flawed card. Having it banish itself is a good idea.
