ATK/DEF

2400/2500

The inspiration for creating this card is the tactical strategy and characteristics of a submarine, which hides beneath the water, undetected by normal means while in defensive operations, and can attack by shooting a torpedo, sinking an enemy mother ship, which reflects in it's first effect. Plus, Submarine Guys are mostly used for defensive pirposes, which is why it has a higher DEF

Much like the other two cards, this card treats itself as "Shy Guy" for whatever reason and summon fodder for whatever. The SS condition is fine, but discarding 3 cards for a direct attack is rather excessive; you could drop it to 2 or something. (A reminder that Tidal is still banned, so if you're worried about him setting up, he won't).

In retrospective, this card + Tidal would've lead to more Rank 7 spam, albeit banishing 5 cards in your Graveyard to do so, but latter is banned.

Defensive effect is okay-ish, but due to how it works; unless you have something like Spirit Barrier up, opponent can just attack your LP directly after they blow up your other monsters.

I like it.

The summoning condition is really cool as it allows you to banish Spell and Trap cards from your Graveyard as well as just monsters. This means it is unlikely to be a dead weight in your hand as it is relatively easy (compared to if you could only banish monsters) to fill up your Graveyard for this card's summon. This is especially true if you are using Spells such as Upstart Goblin and Terraforming.

The direct attacking effect, while costly, seems useful as a way of securing a win against an opponent with low LP, especially if they have walled out with a strong monster. However due to the large cost of discarding 2 cards, I wouldn't use it in other situations. I like this effect as Submarineroid also has a direct attacking effect.

Finally, the protection effect. With the ability to Special Summon it in Defence Position I feel this is quite good, as it gives you an easy way to block your opponent's attacks, forcing them to get rid of it with a removal effect of some kind. This could be a lifesaver against an opponent which lacks easy access to effects like that, or making the opponent use up their Raigeki or a Castel/Break Sword/Coral Dragon etc to be able to deal damage. Again, you get 'flavour points' for this effect as Submarineroid has a defensive effect as well.

All in all, its an easy to summon Level 7 with 2 useful effects.
