Well, I can't seem to get Yugico or YCM to upload a card image, so I guess I'll just write this one out.

Number 193: Core of the Shadows

DARK Rank 4

Machine/Xyz/Effect

2-5 Level 4 DARK monsters

When this monster is Xyz Summoned; it gains the following effects equal to the amount Xyz Materials attached to it.
• 2+ When a DARK monster attacks a monster: Reduce any battle damage to 0.
• 3+ This monster gains 1000 ATK.
• 4+ This face-up monster cannot be destroyed by battle.
• 5+ When this monster attacks a monster with more ATK; Reduce its ATK and DEF to 0 after the Damage Step.
ATK 1600  DEF 100

As usual, let me know what you all think of this!

Just a quick reminder I think that the "Number" thing is already over, but any who...

K, the ATK and DEF are fine, based on its effects... in fact, lets review each effect.

2+ That would probably be the worse effect to go with this card, although it does make it more balanced.

3+ Kk, a pwer boost... little to much for a rank 4 monster. If this is the case, take it down a notch.

4+ Kk fine. Reward for 4 monsters.

5 ..... Limit it. Reduce it to 0? I guess, it makes since that it takes 5 monsters, but at least take away the extra attack or sometin'. In fact, it would actually be pretty hard to find a monster with more then 2900 ATK to begin with, but I already mentioned that before.

Overall great card, but has some obvious draw backs and OP advantages. Or I might be missing something here...

The base stats and effect (since you will always have the first effect apply) are rather mediocre. You're never going to take or deal any battle damage with this card. There's no reason to summon this for 2x LV4 DARKs, and many will opt for something like Master Key Beetle.

At 3 mats this card rolls up to a respectable 2600 ATK, allowing it to crush several monsters in straight battle but never really ending games with.

At 4 mats this card gains a mediocre self-protection ability... Considering the effort needed to field 4 or 5 monsters, let alone of a specific property, the 4 or 5 boundary need to have exponentially increasing returns. Simple protection from destruction in battle might not just cut it.

At 5 mats, this card can slam into bigger monsters but it doesn't automatically win, rather it just clears the path for its companions to move in for the kill.

Okay, considering that this card has no effects that require it to use its Xyz Materials for anything, there is nothing to let you worry about managing its Xyz Materials and losing out on some of the effects. Still, the payout for investing any more than 3 monsters is too low for the effort.

You do remember Konami's making more to fill in the gaps they didn't fill in, right? And even then, you can make more beyond 107 (or really, fill in the gaps yourself). Just make sure you have a reason for the Number.

But anyway, as the thing stands, unless you run this in a Deck that can continually flood Level 4 DARKs, there isn't much reason to use this over Key Beetle or other stuff.

2 effect is fine if you want to suicide stuff or something, but I don't know of any Deck that actually wants to.

3 pushes it to 2600 ATK, which is fine for the effort (but then you'd have to ask why not go into a generic 3-mat Rank 4 that can do just that or even higher)

4 is fine in conjunction with its battle immunity, but then you need to recall effect removal is VERY common.

5 is fine for running over stuff that has effect immunity or something, but as you need to run 5 mats on it (and good luck trying to do that in this game right now), it's not really worth it.
