Ryusei the Morning Star
So this is REALLY late; the banlist should be here in the next 3-5 days. So, in this list, for the most part I’m trying to be objective on what I think Konami will do. A bit of how I want the game to proceed will no doubt creep in cause of Human bais. Anyway the current state of affairs: In February 2016, before the April 1st List, Dracopals-58% BA-13% Monarchs-11% D/D/D-4% Infernoids-3% Rouge-11% Early April 2016 (includes most of March since people used the new list post reveal) Phantom Abyss - 30% Blue Eyes - 20% Qliphort - 13% D/D/D - 8% Monarchs - 7% Rouge - 22% Late April 2016 Blue Eyes - 27% Phantom Abyss - 22% Odd-Eyes Performapal (Pendulum) - 12% Monarchs - 8% Qliphort - 7% Rouge - 24% Full May & Early June 2016 (post TDIL and including Movie Pack) Blue Eyes - 26% Phantom Abyss - 18% Metalphosis - 17% DD/D/ - 12% Odd-Eyes Performapal(Pendulum) - 8% Rouge - 18% A think to note here: Konami tends to focus on the first two months of a format and doesn't, in general, make moves based on the list month (in this case June). The two major decks that will likely get the harshest hits are the consistent best performers, Phantom Knight Burning Abyss and Blue Eyes. The "on-off" or recent decks, ie, Metalphosis and D/D/D will likely get hits, but not nearly as drastic. That being said, the metagame relative to the reign of pals is quite pleasant. This could be a candidate for a "no changes" list like last July. Blue Eyes: The best hit for Blue-Eyes would be "The Melody of Awakening Dragon" A +0 searcher that can immediately net you an Alternate Dragon (and just removal). A discard outlet. Furthermore, Awakening is an easy searcher for both Chaos Max and Chaos Emperor Dragon (not as popular). The point being, this card gives the deck a ton of cohesiveness. However, it is being reprinted in the Kaiba deck a mere 2 days after the V-Jump early leak. So a chances of it being limited are tiny. Furthermore, "Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon" is currently the biggest selling point of the Movie pack. Weakening that seems a bit pointless (as it's not the dominant build) The next card, and the one I think will be the hit, is "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon" There are a couple reasons for this card to be hit. For one it does a little too much for the deck. It stops effectively stops pendulums, and curbs stomps multi-summon. Furthermore the quick-play grave negation has a lot of utility in a grave oriented meta (PKBA, DDD, Mirror, Monarchs, etc) If all else fails, the card can quick-play float into Removal (Rose), Protection (Azure/Spark), or Negation (Crystal). This has created a state where Synchros have pushed out most of the ED. Limiting Spirit Dragon allows for room for more XYZ or Fusion investment. Something that Konami can still make money off of (think Movie Pack) "Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon" is another hit that has been floated around a lot. But I disagree for a few reason at the moment. Alternate was a pretty big selling point for the movie. It's a promo. To get into Synchros you want easy access to lv 8's. While this can be done with Regular Blue Eyes or perhaps Chaos Emperor, it's easiest done with Alternate. Finally, summoning the fusions takes effort. Dragons mirror is quite costly seeing you only have 3 of the regular Blue-Eyes. Alternate brings that count up to 6 and helps justify Twin and Ultimate (Neo) more. The other card I think will get his is "Return of the Dragon Lords" (Gospel of Revival). This card functions as a high utility revival card for Blue-Eyes. Between "Silver's Cry, " "Monster Reborn," "Soul Charge," and "Return of the Dragon Lords" Blue Eyes can have up to 8 revival cards. Furthermore, Return also has an amazing grave effect to protect from destruction. Return has forced out some of the slower, but still solid, revival cards such as "Arkbrave Dragon" and "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon." Both these options are slower potentially and have certain pitfalls (like needing to give up an Alternate or a stone normal for REDMD), but the idea of the banlist is to slow down the deck. Blue-Eyes won't be robbed of options with a Return limit, they will just have to accept potentially slower avenues. This would also help push the Ritual Builds, which don't rely on Return as much. Some left-field hits I have heard support for are "Trade-In" and "Sage with Eyes of Blue" The logic being that Trade-In would slow down the deck, and remove some utility off Regular Blue-Eyes after Alternate summon and also that it could function as dual hit to D/D/D. The flaw here is that Blue-Eyes can easily substitute more "Draw-2 with condition" cards. "Allure of Darkness" with Chaos Emperor Dragon/Melody is an option. So is "Cards of Constance" with the Stones and other dragon tuners. Sage seems like a poor hit as it's a quite vulnerable card. Yes it does search out a tuner and is a +1. But sage is also one of the few cards that redeems Manju in the Ritual Build. It doesn't do enough damage to warrant a hit, but fills a niche of getting tuners. A Sage limit would drastically change and potentially cripple the Blue-Eyes deck, but most likely will not have the desired effects of weakening it in the grand scheme of matters. For ease-ups, I think we will see both "Dragon's Ravine" and "Super Rejuvenation" move to 2 and 3 respectively. Ravine promotes a more Felgrand Based Blue-Eyes deck w/ Chaos Emperor Dragon, Arkbrave Dragon, and REDMD. It would also lessen the damage of a Sage limit (due to tuner searching) if Konami chooses that route. Rejuv is currently a slow card. Blue-Eyes have multiple discard and tribute outlets, but Drawing cards in the end-phase is weak outside of "Maxx "C"" and "Effect Veiler" Rejuv could additionally push the movie pack more by acting as bonus point for "Deep-Eyes White Dragon," but currently, it doesn't have much competitive value. Burning Abyss For starters, I don't see "Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal" being limited or hit at all. Dante is currently limited, and Phantom-Abyss has no other practical way of summoning Beatrice. She's also a Shueisha and we all remember how long it took Shock Master to be banned. She's not so easily accessible that she needs to be banned either (Lavaval Chain). I also don't think "Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" will be the card to be hit. The Cir-Dante loop is already weakened with the limiting of Dante in the April 1st list. But what needs to be addressed is PKBA's early game. They build up resources rapidly from their strong early game start. Cir is notably terrible early game even when considering interactions with Beatrice. With that being said, I think "Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" should be the ideal limit for the deck. Graff needs no further set up like Cir does. It just needs to be sent to the grave and it can double as any BA you would need from the main-deck. A Graff limit would greatly slow down the explosive starts of PKBA. Furthermore Graff would serve as a hit to the Ritual BA builds where as something like a Break-Sword limit would not. Another cards to slow down explosive starts would be "Speedroid Terrortop." Terror is lower investment than TGU (normal), but it can open up the ability to summon multiple r3nks in a turn. Not having to invest BAs on Dante's summon is part of the reason why sumoning Beatrice is so easy for the deck. However limiting it is a bit unfair to Speedroids as a deck, and other "instant" r3nk cards do exist (Galaxy Worm for an example). PKBA can easily make up for a Terror semi-limit with something like Teleport for Ghost Oger or investing in Hippo Carnival. The reason why TGU should stay at 1, while Terror at 2, and Galaxy at 3 is simple. Tour Guide, while needing a normal, gives utility off what it summons regardless of what r3nk you summon. Terror and Galaxy do not. But Terror doesn't require your normal summon and is therefore a little "cheaper" and bumps up the ceiling more than Galaxy would. A "The Phantom Knights of Break Sword" is a poor idea. Konami is attempting to push Phantom Knights in INOV. They've already made their money off BA (Extra Pack) and Terror Top (High Speed Raiders). Furthermore. Break Sword is run at 2 and sometimes 1 in PKBA, much like Beatrice, there isn't much room to hit it, unless the desire is to ban it. Which I feel is unwarranted. Metalphosis Behold the newest pendulum deck to plague YGO! There are a few hits that could suffice as a Metalphosis hit. The first being the obvious "Majespecter Unicorn - Kirin" This card is notoriously hard to remove, with players having to rely on cards like Ignister and Trishula or "Book of Eclipse" and "Swords of Concealing Light." The inability to target or destroy it makes it a pain to deal with every turn. Even in the Odd-Eyes Pendulum Hybrid decks it was always one of the more potent problems. This card should at the very least get limited, and given that OCG has banned atleast one card every list as of recent, it is the top candidate for a banning. That being said, Kirin fails the "bait" test. For a card like Imperial Order or Royal Oppression, it's not easy to bait out the card's effect. However for something like "Cyber Dragon Infinity" or "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon" it's feasible for most decks to bait. The vast majority of decks can summon multiple cards with over 2K attack in the current day and age. And target protection is increasing in cards (lol Komzo soon). Considering this, I don't entirely think Kirin has warranted a 3->0 list move, and limiting it WOULD reduce the frequency with which you would see it. (6->4 or 3->1 depending on how you consider Majespecter Raccoon - Bunbuku). If it still poses a problem, it can go from 1->0 next list. A BunBun limit in addition to Kirin could be a firm message to the resurgence of Majespecter, but the use of 3 BunBun to search 1 Kirin seems like poor deckbuilding to me (granted it would act as a further buffer to Cupidity’s cost) Overall, with more Majespecter support in INOV (rumored, but likely) it seems illogical to ban the strongest card the deck has to offer in Kirin right away. “Cyber Stein” is the other card people have suggested be banned/limited. The problem with stein is it’s still not a problem on its own. It’s high risk, medium reward. Many cards can put away an Exterior or a Last Warrior with ease. The combinations with Kirin and Crystal Wing are what make it problematic. Could a limit help? Sure. But Metals are already playing Sangan to getting to the Stein won’t be hard for a player wishing to do so. Before I get to D/D/D, I do think I should address some generic cards. A staple that has proven to be quite problematic in OCG, is “Pot of Cupidity” many decks like Metalphosis and DDD are maxxing out on this +1. And even Blue-Eyes are running it in part. Decks that needs 2-3 combo pieces to set up their perfect boards (Metalphosis and DDD) greatly benefit from this card. The “cost” can also be “avoided” by running “blanks” such as “Upstart Goblin” which you are no worse off by drawing into, or Cyber Stein (and to a lesser degree, Bunbun) in which each subsequent copy is less needed and powerful. Banishing those from Cupidity’s cost isn’t too damaging. That being said, Cupidity is a rather new card and limiting it this soon into the game seems a tad unlikely (as much as I want it to happen). That being said, OCG did limit Dante, when I made the same “want it to happen, but $ argument” so one can be hopeful eh? The better card to get limited is Upstart Goblin. Not only would the banlists be more similar to each other, but it would also serve as a hit to Blue-Eyes and D/D/D. Chicken Game isn’t used nearly as much as upstart currently and doesn’t warrant a hit this list due to that fact. Monarch FTK is already dead thanks to the banning of “Life Equalizer” D/D/D Now for D/D/D, the popular hit idea is a limit for “D/D Swirl Slime.” A month back, I would not have said D/D/D needed a hit, but with the increased tournament showing it may warrant on after all. The ability to fusion summon and gain further utility from the grave is what allows the deck its massive t1 fields. A limit to this vital combo piece, much like a Kirin limit would do, makes Cupidity’s cost a little more dangerous to the deck as an added bonus. Qliphort The hit is simple here, a limit to “Card of Demise.” This card functions as a +2 to stun decks. And at three it promotes the very set 4-5 pass nature that people despise. Scout and Skill Drain didn’t cause problems until this card was thrown into the mix at three and there is no reason to believe they will start causing problems after this card has been dealt with Generics “Solemn Strike” has too low of a cost for its wide range of targets. Being able to punish your opponent so easily for activating monster effects or investing in summons isn’t good for YGO in the long run. Yes cards like Duster exist, but 1) its 1 card out of 40 and 2) cards like Infinity, Solemn Judgment, and Exterio Exist. It’s also a great indirect hit to Ariadne. “Twin Twister” is likewise joined at the hip with card. MST and it’s one use cousins punish players for setting only one backrow, and HFD punishes mass sets, but at a lower speed (quick-play vs not). Twin Twister punishes setting backrow at all as you can set it and snipe. For the first time in OCG we have seen a drop in even the popular Evac device. A Solemn Strike limit + a Twin Twister limit would revert the situation to approximately the time before either existed. Ie. One where backrow and removal were at a nice equilibrium Unbans: “Magician of Faith” and “Goyo Guardian” we have better forms of Spell Revival in “Dark Magician of Chaos,” “Nirvana High Paladin,” and “Enlightenment Paladin” Those three barely see use. A slower form likewise won’t do much.Goyo is slow, Pendulums don’t go to the graveyard, 2800 isn’t enough to get over the 2800 ceiling. We actually have good lv 6 synchros. Both would list clear and make OCG and TCG more similar Shaddolls Unlike Nekroz, HEROS, or Qliphort. Shaddolls seem unable to top as of recently. And of the 4 seem like the only deck that needs a boost.I don’t think “El-Shaddoll Construct” will return now or in the near future for a couple of reasons. 1) Shaddoll Fusion becomes a 1 card OTK by itself 2) Foolish Burial Cards are being limited or banned left and right (Construct Summon effect)3) Felgrand decks don’t need another easy way to mill and get their effects off w/ the added bonus of a free lv 8.4) Performages are getting more support, and Juggler cannot return easily with this card at 1. That being said, with the correct hits to Blue-Eyes it’s possible for Construct to return to 1. It would match the “1 year+1 format” unban schedule that Wind-Up Carrier and Trishula set The safer semi-limit I think is “El-Shaddoll” Fusion to 2. Without Construct, moving El to 2 won’t create that many more OTK’s than before, but would also solve the problem of Shaddoll brick hands and give them a way to dodge certain cards like Kirin without mass –‘s “Super Polymerization” to 2 would have been a neat idea, but Metalphosis made that idea go sour “Sinister Shadow Games” can also go safely from 2->3 A card I would not be surprised if went back to 2, is “Allure of Darkness.” (Does this go with Shaddolls? WELL IT DOES NOW) The only reason I mention this is Allure’s usage went through the roof post it moving 2->3. And it would function as a present consistency hit to both D/D/D and PKBA while acting as a preventive measure vs Chaos-Blue Eyes in the future. Finally it would match TCG. Having too many free draw cards seems problematic. But it likely will not happen. Clean Up “Thousand-Eyes Restrict” saw some minor play early format, but largely dropped off the radar. To 3 “Inzektor Dragonfly” I keep asking for this list after list. Wind-Up and Dino Rabbit have all their cards back. Inzektors haven’t topped and targeting destruction is getting weaker by the day. It could happen, but Konami seems to hate Inzektors “Sangan” sees play in Metalphosis, but has a hard OPT, so drawing multiples is kinda terrible. To 3 “Gateway of the Six” the card has been at 2 for nearly 9 months now. Sams have 4 tops in that time. Shi-en boards aren’t hard to crack, and Gateway can be snipes from the hand these days. To 3 “Evigiskhi Gustkraken” Gishki are terrible, list clearing. The loop is awful and outdated. To 3 “Reborn Tengu” This card actually has me conflicted due to its interaction with Metalphosis (being able to get 2 “free” pops), but that interaction doesn’t seem to drastically damaging. And finally “Mezuki.” Shiranui decks don’t really need the third copy. It’s list clearing and would match the TCG value on the card. There’s really no product that could host Erratas as of recent. And I’m not entirely sure what else Konami could safely bring off the banlist. Maybe something like Plushfire or Juggler to 1 now that Pals have been put away safely. Or maybe Noden to 1 to match TCG. Ryusei the Morning Star
I'm wondering if Charge of the Light Brigade and/or REDMD might get freed to 3/2 based on new cards from INOV 3 more days though

cardgameking
Still can't believe that in a time when Blue-Eyes, a Dragon-type deck, is really strong Super Rej is considered meh enough for an unlimit.I don't give a sheet about the other things they did as they aren't important.Mezuki not being unlimited is something that makes me wonder if Konami are planning another Zombie-type archetype soon and don't want it to be broken when it gets released. Ryusei the Morning Star
I thought wall went to three when they banned Life Equalizer TBH So it seems like the October and April list get sheet done and the July/Jan lists barely do anything

Ryusei the Morning Star
there there, at least you got one prediction right.Yeah, not sure about Sangan at 2 with no hits to BunBun, Gofu, or Stein though. Metals already run the one they used to be able to run That being said, I thought wall was at 3, apperently not. TER can go to 3. I hope Rejuv sees play but it likely won't. You need to use two discard/tributes to make it a +1 and that's asking a fair bit
