The Nyx Avatar
I don't think sending from the Deck is a good cost, due to the number of Grave-triggering monsters. However, it's not that easy to bring out to the field to begin with. Though, your wording might be a tad off. Maybe: "When you take 1000 or more damage, you can Special Summon this card from your hand."

Trebuchet MS
The Summon restriction looks a little tight at first (when you're under an onslaught and you SS this card midway, don't expect it to survive for long), but when you realize that other effects can Special Summon this card, it may be deceptively easy to put on the field. For example, Water Hazard. It doesn't qualify for a few other WATER support cards like Surface, but indirectly limiting what it can or can't work with will adjust how easy it is to use. Now, on the field, there's very little reason to use the burn ability unless you're seeking to close the game. Milling as cost is negligible as your Deck will consistently have more than enough cards for you to use this effect plenty of times, and you also set up the Graveyard for other plays. The destruction effect is nice, though, as it doesn't target and so bypasses anti-target protection - that is, if you intended it to be that way.
