Taylor Gorrell
I literally made this card in the span of 2 minutes. BlackmailCounter Trap CardIf your opponent activates a card effect: Pay 2000 LP; your opponent chooses and does 1 of the following:● Activate that effect as this card's effect instead.● Negate the effect's activation, and if you do, destroy that card. Trebuchet MS
While I'm all for effects that make your opponent choose as a means of greater player interaction, giving the opponent a choice about the ultimate outcome of your effect reduces the overall impact of your card. If it's an effect you really need countered but doesn't do much for you, or an effect that affects the whole board and thus has little effect if copied, the opponent would just choose the first outcome and you've effectively wasted 2000LP (ignoring Ariadne) and a Trap. You really need to think about what to respond to in order to put your opponent in a sadistic decision.
Sleepy
Negating the effect destroys the card, while stealing the effect leaves it be. Still, there aren't that many situations when it'd much of a hard choice at all. I thought the Solemn Counter Traps were on a thin thread between a banned member, a limited member, and a member that's an expensive absolute staple nowadays. Definitely not something you'd imagine somebody posting at casual cards... or is it that Treatoad's appearance has upped the standard so much? Out of the actions that can be negated (Spell Cards, Trap Cards, Monster Effects, Summons, attacks, draws, etc), you could make a set of cards that negate less of them but can negate more than one, and have some extra bonus effect (like the one you have in this one where you can steal effects instead of negating them) Just throwing out ideas since you said you made this card in such a short time. Another thing you can do is not leave the choice to your opponent, and instead decide it on a coin flip, that way there'd be more pressure AND the drawback of making it 50% useless if it ended up stealing something like Dark Hole's effect. It'd be fun.
