~~~~ Posted July 28, 2016 Report Share Posted July 28, 2016 ...God Dammit, Konami....They suck now......lol why? Have you ever actually played Burgesstoma? If you had, then you'd know that a major weakness of them is the opponent chaining a spare MST to your trap activation, (popping another of your backrow, obviously not the one you just activated) just to stop your summons. If they were compulsory, this weakness would disappear. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Burgesstomas thrive on options in my experience, and them having their summons become manditory greatly reduces thise options. Also, never have i ever played against someone who was smart enough to chain anything before i could get my burg out. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Resident Fascist Posted July 29, 2016 Report Share Posted July 29, 2016 Them being mandatory is honestly better because you can't blank them with chain mechanics and so few decks run SS2 traps anymore. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Kaiji Posted July 29, 2016 Report Share Posted July 29, 2016 For the record, the mandatory summon basically means you lose going second (which wasnt favorable going second to begin with) vs informed players (which to be fair Sturgeons Law would apply). Kaiji Posted July 29, 2016 Report Share Posted July 29, 2016 why? Please explain your reasoning when you make a claim of such magnitudeIts not a "claim of magnitude" smh A trap deck is by default awful going second by requiring 1 turn to set traps ie giving an opponent a free turn. You have a lower win % by default if your opponent's normal traps can force your summons. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~~ Posted July 29, 2016 Report Share Posted July 29, 2016 Its not a "claim of magnitude" smh A trap deck is by default awful going second by requiring 1 turn to set traps ie giving an opponent a free turn.It is a claim and all claims have some amount of magnitude. You claimed that 'zoics would be at a disadvantage if going second. This is a claim I agree with. However, that disadvantage does not, as you also claim, come mostly or even in part from the summons being compulsory. You have a lower win % by default if your opponent's normal traps can force your summons.As to this, you have a lower win % if you can't summon your 'zoics because they can simply chain any old quick effect. This is a much bigger threat than worrying about your opponent giving you +, which is actually a good thing. To everyone still doubting, I say this: people tend not to main Normal and Continuous Traps like they used to. If people are specifically siding in these cards just to bait out summons from a Grave that is actually rather easily refilled, they are idiots, because they should have sided in Denko Sekka. Regardless, it is extremely likely that the summons are optional and that someone made a mistake. We don't need to be discussing the benefits of something that isn't the case, however much I wish it were. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Kaiji Posted July 29, 2016 Report Share Posted July 29, 2016 Nobody sides denko sekka in 2016, people are hardly idiots for that. I don't understand what you mean by opponents giving you +. They will flip a normal trap on their turn after going first giving them a chane to set them before you, therefore they can control which cards they can banish ie they are detracting you from your win con. I'm not doubting that you still receive a benefit from a mandatory summon stop repeating that ffs, it's been said already above my post. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

~~~~ Posted August 2, 2016 Report Share Posted August 2, 2016 Sorry to double post, but I've just played with these in real life. It turns out that when they are compulsory, you summon as many 'zoics as possible whenever a trap is activated, not just one. Holy sheet they are explosive like this. 3-mat is no challenge at all. ÆƵ– Posted August 2, 2016 Report Share Posted August 2, 2016 Well now I'm a bit conflicted... On one hand, summoning a sheet-ton of burgs is fun and you can get out an opa and an anomal from 1 trap, but on the other hand, raigeki Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ÆƵ– Posted August 2, 2016 Report Share Posted August 2, 2016 Already was viable considering you could set up Skill Drain and then self remove as a cost. You've said skill drain a lot, but I'm not quite sure it's as viable a move as you think it is. Sure your burgs are unaffected, but they're also kinda meh in the stat department. Xyzing up helps, but now that you have skill drain up, you can't use any effects. See what I'm getting at here? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Toffee. Posted August 3, 2016 Report Share Posted August 3, 2016 Now that I think about it.... Given the fact that they are mandatory and whatnot- This now puts a HUGE emphasis on having Iron Wall out or not, which sorta' undermines these. Like... You have to desperately draw/search/topdeck/whatever Iron Wall.... Or you might as well scoop. Since the Archetype is now quite fragile. Not saying it makes them unplayable, but like... It puts them on a similar level to Infernoids/early-Kozmo/Nobel Knights/Deskbots/etc. You know, topdeck the key card or sit there and make awkward plays out of desperation? At least, the way I'm seeing it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
