Ancient Rule Book

Intro:

Do you remember Yu-Gi-Oh! season 1, how simple the game was? this is exactly what this field spell card does, I am working on this card for sometime and now its finally ready to be uploaded on the side for opinions/review/suggestions.

Name Issue:

I prefer the Ancient Rule Book but since I am using the Millennium Book picture (is the best book picture I find) I am still not sure whether to go with "Ancient Rule Book" or "Millennium Rule Book"

Card Design:

Description Text:

Very long text, explaining all the rules, I try to keep it as minimum as possible, I will probably revise it.

About "Ancient Rule Book":

  • Field Spell Card
  • Restricted Card: only 1 copy allow on your deck
  • All players are affected: 1 vs 1, tag team, multi-duel
  • As long as this card is on the field no other field spell card allow to be activated
  • Can be destroy or prevented using special methods such as the trap Magic Jammer and/or the Spell Card Giant Trunade

Duel Rules:

After this card activated the following rules apply to the duel

  • Only 5 Monsters and 5 spell/trap cards allow at the same time on your side
  • Only 5 cards are allow to have on your hand, with any additional card on your draw phase you have to set a card from your hand to your graveyard
  • Only 1 any level monster normal summon allows per turn either on Offense or Defense
  • No tribute(s) needed
  • No special summons allowed: Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, Xyz & Pendulum
  • Any monster already on the filed summoned using the forbidden special methods is become normal monster, that means no special abilities

Enclosure:

Complicated card (I know) I try to make it as balance as possible to make the duel looks like the original when created, still needs work I am open for feedback and suggestions.

"All Special Summoned monsters on the field have their effects negated, and are treated as Normal Monsters. Neither player can Special Summon monsters. Neither player can gain Normal Summons in addition to their Normal Summon/Set. Both players can Normal Summon 1 Level 5 or higher monster without Tributing. The hand size limit of each player becomes 5. Neither player can control 6 or more Spell/Trap cards."

As for its effects, I don't need to elaborate on this review because this card is messed up, even for a Limited card. Because this card stops many, if not most Decks from playing. Also, this card is a Field Spell, which means that this card is searchable making it a broken mess.

My main problem with this card is the fact that the "original rules" were only active in the anime. True, the original game (which was before/around the same time as season 0) was very different, but iirc it didn't even play like this. When YGO was released in the form it was today, with the Season 1 anime, the rules in the anime were very different to how the game was actually played. And besides, the reason the rules were so different was mainly for plot reasons (see the Turtle Cannon Maneuver)

Well yeah that's the point, the 5 card rules are taken from the PC game Power of Chaos, I believe are the normal TCG game rules in the real world not the anime. With this card you don't heavily rely on the new summoning methods and think more deserve deck builds, Is not as powerful as you think if you consider that this is one card out of 40 (1/40 chance to get it on the first draw) and also there are many ways to prevent/destroy it.

Although I never had a deck to play the game in real world, cards are expensive here thus not many players play the game, I copy the rules from the Power of Chaos game and the one on xbox, the only exception which is same as anime is the no tributes.

Partly yes, but what's also old?

This thread.

You know what happens next, but my two cents on the card: Original rules (assuming Duelist Kingdom stuff) only applied in the anime; rest of the rulebook was more/less the same as it is now, barring the Extra limiter and the start player not getting a draw now.
