Evolution Network
Normal Spell

Activate 1 of these effects:

● Add 1 "Rank Up Magic" card from your Deck to your hand.

● Discard 1 "Rank Up Magic" card, then draw 2 cards.

You can only activate 1 "Evolution Network" per turn.

 

Simple, but I feel like RUM as a mechanic is close to being something usable and good, but just super isn't because of how little effort has been given to really developing it.

Utopia the Deck will DEFINITELY like this one. They already have "Xyz Change Tactics" as a mediocre draw engine, but this card will definitely make them better since they lack consistency. Other than that, Raidraptors might also use it since Lanius needs to destroy a monster to do what this card does.

Simple but really solid and effective card. I like very much that it offers the option of using the RUM for draw power; really handy for those cases said RUM ends up dead.

 

I felt it wasn't enough just to search a RUM; the two problems with RUM is that it was inconsistent in when you have it, and often when you do it's often dead. So, with this card I wanted to work with both problems; give a use for it when you have it, and give a means to get it when you don't. Only being able to do one or the other in a turn was a nice balancing factor IMO.

Utopia Change Tactics was a concern of mine when making this, just because I know some people don't know how to deal with Hope ZEXAL when he pops up. Only real way to balance it properly for that deck is to test, though. As far as theory goes it's probably as good as it's gonna get.

Yeah, and making a Spell Card whose only effect is search for another card would have been too bland for my tastes. But that second effect is right on spot.

 

To be honest, a thought I had to improve this card was to put "Xyz" in its name so it becomes searchable by "Generation Force", which of course combos nicely with a a RUM-able Xyz, but I'm not sure if that would be an overkill at that point, plus it can make the card's name a bit awkward.

But I second that! That's gonna fix the horrible consistency of Rank-up Xyz decks. Now with this card, "Generation Force" and "Xyz Change Tactics", would "Utopic Zexal" be out of hand? *insert scary noise meme here*
