Starlight Road & Instant Fusion edit: Not instant fusion but a card more like cyber stein

Recommended Posts

Does the new rule set described here: https://ygorganization.com/memberdrawing6/

[spoiler=note this excerpt]The Newly Created Extra Monster Zone
>You can only use one of them!<

When the Duel begins, neither Extra Monster Zone is considered to belong to a specific player. When a player Special Summons a monster to one of them, that Zone then becomes treated as part of that player’s field, and the other then becomes treated as the other player’s field. The tactics of a Duel will change drastically depending on who can grab an Extra Monster Zone first! An Extra Deck Monster can only be Summoned to the Extra Monster Zone! But if you Summon a Link Monster to one of the Extra Monster Zone first, you can utilize it to its max potential!

*Extra Deck Monsters, like Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, and Link, cannot be Summnoned to the Main Monster Zone, beware!

I can see this one of two ways:

- This worked based on summon type, so instant fusion and starlight road ignore the extra monster zone restriction.

- It worked based on card type and/or the location it was summoned from, in which case they killed the two cards mentioned in the title.

edit: IDK if a viable card that summons fusions without being a fusion summon exists that's not banned, that's the kind of card I wanted for the title not instant fusion.

Also confused a bit. To my understanding so far, if you activate Instant Fusion without a Link Monster, it would still go to the Extra Monster Zone since it's also treated as a Fusion Summon. If it is occupied, then it would have to go to a designated link marked Zone. If you're unable to do either, it can't be activated.

In Starlight Road's case, I would assume the same, but the wording bothers me. Apparently if you use Monster Reborn on an ED Monster it would go to the Main Monster Zone, so would the same rules apply to Starlight Road? It may also be because in MR's case, the monster was already properly summoned, and Starlight Road is still summoning from the ED which could mean Stardust Dragon would go to the EM Zone if able. Either way Starlight Road's 1st eff can be activated even if you don't have a Stardust to summon.

I forgot that instant fusion is treated as a fusion summon.

My tentative understanding is that when you SS an Extra Deck monster (Synchro, Fusion, Xyz, Link) FROM the Extra Deck, you can only place it in the Extra Monster Zone. Special Summoning it from the Graveyard or elsewhere that is not the Extra Deck allows you to place it in a Main Monster Zone.

So Instant Fusion and Road both can only Summon to the EMZ, because it's SSing FROM the Extra Deck.

Yeah, the information on summoned Extra Deck Monsters going into the Extra Monster Zone doesn't distinguish or clarify if it only applies on proper Extra Deck Summon (Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Summons), or also on Special Summons of those monsters through other means, like the aforementioned Starlight Road, also Cyber Dragon Nova and True King Metatron.
