Evo-lutionary Tree
[Field Spell]

Dinosaur, Reptile, and Dragon-Type monsters gain 300 ATK. Once per turn: You can send 1 of these monsters from your side of the field or your hand to GY to activate 1 of these effects.

  • "Evoltile" monster: Special Summon 1 "Evolsaur" monster from your Deck. It is treated as if it was Special Summoned by the effect of an "Evoltile" monster.
  • "Evolsaur" monster: Special Summon 1 Rank 6 or lower Dragon-Type Xyz from your Extra Deck, then attach up to 2 "Evoltile" and/or "Evolsaur" monsters to it as Xyz Materials from the GY.
  • "Evolzar" monster: Special Summon 2 "Evoltile" monsters from your Deck and/or Graveyard in any combination of face-up Attack Position or face-down Defense Position.

Why is it not named Evo-lutionary Tree? That way it will get "Evo-" Spell/Trap support, if they ever release any xD

Flavor-wise you missed on some things, IMO. I mean, discarding an Evoltile to Summon an Evolsaur from Deck makes sense, but discarding an Evolsaur to Summon an Evoltile from Deck.. not so much. And the last effect, it looks kinda out of place as the archetype Avarice but in Field Spell form, and thus usable multiple times, also getting rid of your Evolzar, even without materials, is kind of undesirable.

As it stands, the Evoltile effect is great, while the Evolsaur and Evolzar effects are fine to fix hands I guess. Overall the card is fine, I just find it strange flavor-wise.

However, it would be neat if instead Evolzars regressed into 2 Evoltiles from Deck and/or GY, and the Evolsaurs Xyz-evolved into an Evolzar; since it would be a single material, Laggia wouldn't be a threat, while Dolkka and Solda could be decent picks; you could even explore Xyz-evolving into non-Evol Dragon Xyzs, namely Ophion.

Although, I understand that the above effects would drastically change your card, and that may be against your intentions, so feel free to reject them; just dropping them because your card's concept inspired me with those ideas.

So I made some edits in regard to your objection of some of my flavor choices (believe it or not I really like some of your ideas).

  • Evolsaurs now become 1 card Dragon-Type Xyzs with the help of this Field Spell. Was skeptical about this idea at first, but then I remembered the Link Format is boning a lot of Extra Deck explosion in the older ways we know and love so why the hell not?
  • Evolzars become 2 Evoltiles and you can Summon those in either Attack Position and/or face-down Defense Positon. This was more of flavor reasoning than actual competitive stuff. I sort of miss the Avarice effect which I might change back to it.. But, then again... Split on wanting Evoltiles to not entirely be ignored.

I know some of my previous decisions were weird such as Evolsaurs being devolved into Evoltile, and Evolzars being converted into a Pot of Avarice for their support. There was reasoning behind that madness. The Evolsaur to Evoltile thing being that it would still promote players to use Evoltiles if needed (some of the Evoltiles actually benefit from the Field Spells boost or free position Summoning)... And as for the Avarice effect: lets face it the deck is notoriously bad at grinding if you've played them. Primarily because their strategy is all over the place in getting Evolsaurs to do what they need to do, and you can only jump through these hoops for so long before the Deck gives in to its own inconsistencies.

This is probably going to be a card I will keep making edits on until I am either satisfied, or giving up on the idea altogether.

Where does it attach materials from

I'll assume it's from the GY right now, but yeah, that does need to be specified before further judgment can be given. (Evolzar one is GY, but can't say if the Evolsaur one follows same pattern or it goes for the hand or Deck instead, though that might help them a bit more given the new rules).

Yes I meant the GY... Accidental omission on my part.

You could make it attach 1 Evoltile and 1 Evolsaur as a nod to Evo-Singularity; plus it would encourage the inclusion of Evoltiles in the Deck, rather than taking a pure-Evolsaur approach backed up by the latest Dinosaur support.

The archetype Avarice can still be its own Evo- Spell/Trap, you know? But that would be for a different thread.

Another cool thing you could do with this card is to make it float into an "Evo-" Spell/Trap, except a copy of itself, of course, or be greedy and search it upon activation xD But this can also be left for a different card.
