My thoughts on this card due to its background are essentially this:

 

 

The flavor's all wacky though. Why does she prevent any kind of "leaving the field"? That includes "raising into the heavens" (returning to the hand), which has hilariously inaccurate implications.

 

The effect also conflicts a lot with the rest of the game. It doesn't care how the monster would leave the field, it prevents it from being Kaiju'd or Tributed or used as a cost in any way, being banished even temporarily, and not just being destroyed. This messes with resolutions and chain link order in the game, and it still doesn't cover up against everything that could possibly harm a monster. One can still switch control of them, even if you gave it an anti-target clause, they can still be stolen into the other side.

Mary, Martyr in Light

EARTH - Level 1 - Fairy/Tuner/Effect - 200 ATK/100 DEF

If a monster you control would be destroyed by battle or leave the field by a card effect, you can discard this card instead, also you take no battle damage for the rest of the turn. You can only use this effect of "Mary, Martyr in Light" once per duel.

 

• Name change for obvious reasons, but I made the name at least sound cool and it still fits the context of the card.
• EARTH because Mary wasn't an Angel, although I did keep the Fairy typing so idk it's just not as much of a oversaturated typing
• Official Card Grammar has been corrected so that it can't do weird stuff.
• Once per duel emphasizes that it's a tech card that you only have to run 1 of.
• Upgraded the Waboku effect because Once per Duel has to be rewarded accordingly. It also makes choosing when and where to activate the card more interesting, so that's cool.
