Tinkerer
Hello, fine peoples!Just slapping down another set of cards. I had an initial idea of something like Invokeds, but I kinda switched gears midway through and decided to make something a little different. So without further ado, the cards![spoiler=Cards]Morph MasterLIGHT ****Spellcaster/Effect(Quick Effect): Reveal 1 "Master's Morphing" monster in your hand until the End Phase; This effect becomes that monster's (2) effect.1950/0The deck backbone. This is the playmaker as its effect is not actually once per turn. The only limit to the effect is having cards to reveal. As it is, because this card essentially does quick-play versions of the other monsters' effects, it is actually much more powerful than the other monsters despite the initial look. Morph TempleField SpellWhen this card is activated: add 1 "Morph Master" from your Deck to the hand. Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can Tribute 1 "Morph Master" from your hand or field, then Ritual Summon 1 revealed "Master's Morphing" monster in your hand, but destroy it during the End Phase.Because why not. Again, I'd initially wanted it to work somewhat like Invokeds so giving them a field spell for their main playmaker seemed like a good idea. Again, since Morph Master is often better to have out than anything he morphs into, the second effect is probably one that won't see much use unless you're trying to dodge removal. Master's Morphing - WyvernLIGHT 8*Dragon/Ritual/EffectThis card can be Ritual Summoned with "Everchanging Ritual". You can only activate this card's (2) effect once per turn.(1) (Quick Effect): you can target 1 "Morph Master" you control and reveal this card until the End Phase; that target gains 1000 ATK until the End Phase.(2) You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; Set that target.(3) If this card is sent from the field to the GY; you can Special Summon 1 "Morph Master" from your GY.3000/2000Master's Morphing - IfritFIRE 8*Pyro/Ritual/EffectThis card can be Ritual Summoned with "Everchanging Ritual". You can only activate this card's (2) effect once per turn.(1) (Quick Effect): you can target 1 "Morph Master" you control and reveal this card until the End Phase; the next monster that attacks that target is destroyed at the start of damage calculation, then inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster.(2) You can discard 1 monster except this card's name; add 1 "Morph Master" or "Master's Morphing" monster from your Deck to your hand.(3) If this card is sent from the field to the GY; you can Special Summon 1 "Morph Master" from your GY.3200/200Master's Morphing - BehemothEARTH 8*Beast/Ritual/EffectThis card can be Ritual Summoned with "Everchanging Ritual". You can only activate this card's (2) effect once per turn.(1) (Quick Effect): you can target 1 "Morph Master" you control and reveal this card until the End Phase; the first two times that target would be destroyed by battle this turn, it is not destroyed.(2) Target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; negate that target's effects until the End Phase.(3) If this card is sent from the field to the GY; you can Special Summon 1 "Morph Master" from your GY.1500/3000Master's Morphing - ZizWIND 8*Winged Beast/Ritual/EffectThis card can be Ritual Summoned with "Everchanging Ritual". You can only activate this card's (2) effect once per turn. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this card's (2) effect.(1) (Quick Effect): you can target 1 "Morph Master" you control and reveal this card until the End Phase; negate any card effects that target that target until the End Phase.(2) Target up to 2 Spell/Traps on the field; return those targets to the hand.(3) If this card is sent from the field to the GY; you can Special Summon 1 "Morph Master" from your GY.2700/2400Master's Morphing - LeviathanWATER 8*Sea Serpent/Ritual/EffectThis card can be Ritual Summoned with "Everchanging Ritual". You can only activate this card's (2) effect once per turn.(1) (Quick Effect): you can target 1 "Morph Master" you control and reveal this card until the End Phase; that target is unaffected by opponent's monster effects until the End Phase.(2) Target 1 face-up card your opponent controls and banish 2 cards from your GY; destroy that target.(3) If this card is sent from the field to the GY; you can Special Summon 1 "Morph Master" from your GY.2200/2600Master's Morphing - ArchfiendDARK 8*Fiend/Ritual/EffectThis card can be Ritual Summoned with "Everchanging Ritual". You can only activate this card's (2) effect once per turn.(1) (Quick Effect): you can target 1 "Morph Master" you control and reveal this card until the End Phase; that target cannot be destroyed by card effects this turn.(2) Target 1 monster you control; add 1 monster from your Deck to your hand with the same name as that target.(3) If this card is sent from the field to the GY; you can Special Summon 1 "Morph Master" from your GY.2800/2500Attribute based ritual monsters that usually have a protection (1) effect and a more offensive (2) effect, though some vary. 3k ATK is the only real advantage that these have over the Master himself, so they often won't actually be summoned unless you're swinging for damage. However, their float effects allow them to be useful for link laddering. Power of the MorphingQuick-Play SpellTarget 1 "Master's Morphing" monster you control or that is revealed in your hand: this card's effect becomes that target's (2) effect. During the End Phase: you can banish this card from your GY; Special Summon 1 "Master's Morphing" or "Morph Master" from your GY.Mix-and-MorphQuick-Play SpellShuffle any number of revealed "Master's Morphing" monsters into your Deck, then draw cards equal to the number of cards shuffled into your Deck by this effect +1. During the Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the GY, you can banish this card from the GY and banish 1 "Master's Morphing" monster from your hand; add 1 "Master's Morphing" monster with a different name from your Deck to your hand.Everchanging RitualRitual SpellYou can Ritual Summon 1 "Master's Morphing" monster by tributing monsters you control whose total levels equal exactly 8 from your hand or side of the field or by banishing 2 "Master's Morphing" monsters with the same name as the monster from your hand, Deck or GY. This card can be activated as a Quick-Play Spell if you control "Morph Master". If a monster(s) is sent from the field to the GY: you can target 1 of those monsters and banish this card; add any number of banished monsters with the same name as the target to your hand.More Spells. The first gives you more chances to use beneficial (2) effects and helps retain advantage if your opponent somehow manages to kill off Master. The second fixes the overly bricky hands this deck is likely to accrue. The third is the normal Ritual Spell that can be activated as a quick-play and can essentially summon out the big guys for free. Also helps to double up on Master's (2) effect usage with its grave effect. Honestly, since I've been away, I've lost track of what would be considered balanced and what wouldn't, so this is kinda my attempt to regain that as well as try out some interesting mechanic design. The other thing I needed help with with these is actually wording them in tcg style. The numeral system seemed to be most beneficial as I was able to distinguish which effect Master could copy, but I prefer the unbroken tcg wording, so if anyone has suggestions on how to fix, that'd be much appreciated. Thanks for stopping by! Eshai
Whelp. I'll review because its a interesting and weird concept. Morph MasterLIGHT - Level 4 - Spellcaster/Effect - 1950 ATK/0 DEFThe idea of gaining effects and making the (number) matter is a really cool idea, but I think leaving it to only 1 number is kinda a shame. I’d figure there’d be 3 Main Deck monsters that gain different effects from the Rituals, maybe even have them alter the effects a bit (an example would be turning the effect into a Quick Effect, making it so it can’t be negated by certain kinds of cards, removing the cost, etc.) Also, you can’t reveal already revealed cards already since they’re already public knowledgehttp://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Reveal Morph TempleSpell - FieldFor starters, it’s a search effect, so it should probably be optional (it gets weird when cards like this aren’t). Second, Ritual Summoning only works with the usual “you must also Tribute so and so whose Level is equal to whatever” so I just took Instant Fusion’s usual wording and replaced it with Ritual Summoning (not too terribly familiar with Rituals so I’m not sure if Rituals already have a similar card). Master's Morphing - WyvernLIGHT - Level 8 - Dragon/Ritual/Effect - 3000 ATK/2000 DEFShould probably be “you can only activate each effect of this card’s name once per turn” because otherwise, this card could get a bit crazy)(1): Spell Speed 2 needs a trigger, but getting a free 1000 ATK EVERY TURN is crazy. Why even Ritual Summon this card? (or is that the point?)(2): So Morph Master can Book of Moon once per turn, or it gains 1000 ATK. Nice.(3): So if it’s revealed or already on the field and then sent to the GY, you get back Morph Master? Jeez this card has a lot of utility (with 1 card) Master's Morphing - IfritFIRE - Level 8 - Pyro/Ritual/Effect - 3000 ATK/2000 DEFDo me a favor and make these cards have different ATK/DEF stats from each other. Just increases card diversity (and also doesn’t make the entire Deck BEWD). Same OPT stuff applies.(1) We all just trying to 1-up Honest here? You might offend someone (like someone who’s had a mint 1st ed Ghost Rare Honest preserved in a hard sleeve for near a decade)(2) Searcher searches, although I figure this should be the kind of card that discards itself to search. Don’t know how you would implement it all though.(3) Wait ALL of them have this effect? Not sure how I feel about this, but it’s at least a way to keep Morph Master on the field. May include any of the Rituals for the Special Summon so you can at least have options (unless that was the point)Master's Morphing - BehemothEARTH - Level 8 - Beast/Ritual/Effect - 3000 ATK/2000 DEF(1) just make it so it can’t be destroyed by battle. In fact with your battle trap card effects might be more appropriate anyway.(2) Effect negation, even Field Spells or Continuous Spells. I can kinda see why you didn’t want Morph Master to be OPT since you could gain several effects in a turn. Not sure how you actually do the OCG for that (maybe Sakura could help you out there) but yeah cool.(3) <will not be mentioning the same effect over again> Master's Morphing - ZizWIND - Level 8 - Winged Beast/Ritual/Effect - 3000 ATK/2000 DEF(1) Target protection, and it can properly chain to targeting effects. Nice.(2) WAHT ThIS Is BROkEN. For starters, specify opponent so it doesn’t cause any FTK shenanigans. Second, add a cost. Third, your opponent should be able to activate cards because you’re not targeting before the effect actually happens. Tbh I would just have it destroy a Spell/Trap once per turn so it can screw with your opponent’s Continuous and Field Spells. There’s also that you can keep doing this every turn with Morph Master, which is definitely something the Deck could abuse to extreme extents. Master's Morphing - LeviathanWATER - Level 8 - Sea Serpent/Ritual/Effect - 3000 ATK/2000 DEF(1) Interesting but I can definitely see you trying to balance continuous card generation. I might do something else for consistency effects. Keep the Quick Effects to protection.(2) “Banish 2 cards from your GY and target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; destroy it.” I think it’s a bit excessive with everything else you have, but I would test on Duel-Portal to make sure. Master's Morphing - ArchfiendDARK - Level 8 - Fiend/Ritual/Effect - 3000 ATK/2000 DEF(1) Oh so here’s the card effect protection.(2) That...what? I don’t know if that’s OP or not. I might restrict it to Level 4 or lower monsters so at least there isn’t as much but I don’t think it matters too much until it does. Power of the MorphingQuick-Play SpellOh. Well, that’s amazing. Yeah, this card feels too essential and necessary to the overarching idea of the Deck, so don’t change it. Mix-and-MorphQuick-Play SpellI wouldn’t restrict the GY effect to revealed monsters especially if you’re discarding them. Should be fine having an archetype +0 Reload. Everchanging RitualRitual SpellInteresting, although the banishing is kinda weird in the context of the Deck. If it works it works I guess, but I would rather the Summoned monster be able to gain the effect of Morph Master’s or something along those lines. I figure the extra ATK and effects might make the monster a bit more sturdy. So you made something weird here, because it’s Ritual Bujins but with less consistency and more long-term value. While you can’t search a card every turn (I can make an argument Morph Master should be able to search somehow) the cards stay in your hand and get revealed. This seems like a more realized version of the “Zaprince” archetype where you had hand traps and all sorts of effects that revealed cards. I think I like this version better. Kinda wish you did more with the (number) oriented effects, but that doesn't seem like what you were going for so that's fine. I might have to do something with an archetype that cares about which number the effects are though because that's just cool in concept. Wonder if there are any rules for the way effects are ordered? Will have to add something to the list. So yeah, that’s an hour of my life spent how I wanted it to be because why else would I do anything. Good luck. If you want to test on the Duel Portal PM me. Tinkerer
Thanks! I tinkered with some stuff and had an open doc with the notes of all the changes as well as why I didn't do others. ...and then my computer decides to turn off. So... yeah. Regardless, there were some things that you noted that seemed like really good ideas (Ziz being the foremost one), while others were things that I was a bit more hesitant to change without testing (being able to float Ritual into Ritual). I made a few changes and I think I might tweak a bit more here and there and maybe add some more support cards, but for now, I think I'll hold off on these. Thanks again!
