An Undertale Archetype

Before locking this thread or derailing it, please be aware this isn't supposed to be a bunch of joke cards. I tried to make legitimate, serious cards from parts of the game Undertale. I know some of you have an aversion to Undertale, but please judge these cards with an open mind.

Note 1: The cards were made with the intended use of being in a 50 card deck. Some of the cards in here are about parts of Undertale that either did nothing (had no real power) or are connected to characters that are more head-cannon than anything else. Please do not complain about those cards, they are there for equalizing the card count as well as providing more flexibility in use as a deck.

Note 2: I am not sure whether these would be useful or not in the MR4 duels, so please give me feed back on whether you think it would work or not.

King Asgore: Dark, Effect, Beast-Warrior, Lv. 7; You can tribute this card to draw one "Six Human SOULs" from the deck. If "Toriel" is on the field, this card goes to the defense position. This card cannot leave defense position until "Toriel" isn't on the field. 2500/2200

Asriel, the God of Hyperdeath: Dark, Effect, Spellcaster, Lv. 12; Only can be summoned through the effect of "Asriel, Angel of Death". The summoning of this monster cannot be negated. Asriel, Angel of Death: Dark, Syncro, Effect, Spellcaster, Lv. 9; "Flowey" + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters. When summoned, banish "Flowey" from the graveyard. When a player gets 10 LV counters, destroy this card and special summon "Chara" to the field of the player with the least LV counters.

Dogamy & Dogaressa: Dark, Xyz, Beast-Warrior, Rnk. 4; 2 level 4 Beast or Beast-Warrior type monsters. I'm not a deck building expert, so I do not know what a "highlander deck" is, but I will explain my intentions...

The original intention was to make it into a 50 card deck (using 5 stock cards to fill in the blanks). I'm very used to 50 card decks, so that was what I was looking for when creating these. However, while most of these cards have some kind of combo connected to them (like any card that deals with the "Soul Mode" cards) I think it is broken up enough that you could use them in a 40 card deck.

so basically 50 cards deck consisting on 1 each of every 45 cards and 5 of whatever generic option you had right? in a sense that's is pretty close to Highlander Deck concept. Highlander is a type of deck construction that run only 1 copy of each card

that being said a working and consistent highlander deck while not unheard off is quite difficult to be utilize fairly in the game. it can be either end-up in polar opposite of too clunky to open plays (especially if there specific combo piece that only work on certain timing) OR a jumble of possibly jarring-ultra consistent-engines. i still haven't finish properly reading all of the stuff but i start to sense the former problem due to some cards require a really specific interaction with one another and require time to actually do something. this can be a bane to this type of deck that already challenged greatly in term of consistency, moreso so from my reading your cards don't have enough search or draw card effect

there at least 2 ways you can fix this however

1) don't force all of undertale lore in 1 archetype or deck construction. you can make separate archetype that while end up as 2 or more separate decks (and seperate post in different time. so you can flesh-out synergy and lore deeper) still intertwine in terms of lores kinda like Duel Terminal or World Legacy (especially the latter since there's atleast 7 archetype in World Legacy story but all of them using World Legacy cards as their spell or Trap cards, even as far having shared 1 or 2 of same cards that happen to be generic)

2) if you still want to make all the lore contain in 1 highlander'ish deck. there be a major effect changes you need to apply. especially more search and draw effects to create an engine and less specific interaction especially that require excessive setup. you can also cheat the number by making some of the cards (boss mainly) as extra deck cards to lighten the bricks. i even go as far making the bosses to have less multiple forms on separate cards an make a single card of that boss character that has built-in effect to gain effect of the other forms if certain condition is met

First, the original intention was for more my sake than anyone else. I don't really care how other people use them in a deck they build. In fact there are 25 cards that can go individually without requiring any other card from this set, and 9 cards that would require only one card from this set.

Next, I looked over what cards require a specific card(s) from this set and I can see the problem. 11 cards require 2 or more individual cards from this set in order to create a combo. Lots of set-up that could easily be stopped if the opponent has a card effect that stops the summoning of a monster.

After that, with all the problems connected to this, I'm not sure the strategy I made for this kind of deck would work. I was looking for something where you basically get revenge with a strong monster by banishing monsters from your graveyard. However, I probably nerfed it to the point of destroying that kind of set-up.

Finally, thank you for your review on this card set. I will be reconsidering effects and what-not until it is all at least half-way decent.

Well this seems like doable goal though just need some fine tune and synergy

Your Toriel and Napstablook cards are cute as hell. I love how Toriel innability to defeat the foe references how she avoids hitting Frisk. Here I go 🙂

Toriel

Monsters your opponent controls cannot attack monsters you control, except this card. Cannot destroy Level 2 or lower monsters by battle. If an attack involving this card would reduce your opponent's LP to 0; your opponent's LP become 1 instead.

Napstablook

Cannot be Special Summoned. If a monster you control would be destroyed (either by battle or card effect, you can Tribute this card instead. During your End Phase; return this card to the hand.

Good job with the Undertale cards, anyway. P.D. Where's the amalgamates?

Thanks for the grammar change.

While I thought about adding more than just Lemon Bread... I wasn't sure how to implement them in to the 45 card idea (especially when I was trying to equalize the card types. 1/2 monsters, 1/4 spells, 1/4 traps.), so I only put in Lemon Bread. However, seeing as the whole "turn this into a deck" thing was just for me, I might make more cards including the amalgams. Stay tuned!

New cards! I will warn you though, these will probably be the last ones I will make for this Archetype since I really can't see how I can get more to fit in (or I just can't find any good art for the ideas I have).

Text:

Memory Head: Dark, Flip, Effect, Fiend, Lv. 3; Flip: Deal 100 damage to your opponent's life points for every card in your graveyard. If this card is not attacked by your opponent, deal 250 damage to your opponent's life points. 500/2000

Evil Chara: Dark, Effect, Fiend, Lv. 10; This card cannot be normal summoned/set. This card cannot be special summoned except by tributing "Chara" while it is the only monster on your side of the field. This card's ATK/DEF becomes double that of the tributed "Chara". Once per turn you can special summon any "LV" monster from your hand. If your opponent controls an "LV" monster, you can take control of that monster until this card is destroyed. If one of your monsters doesn't declare an attack, destroy all your monsters on the field. ?/?

Frisk LV 19: Earth, Effect, Warrior, Lv. 9; This card cannot be normal summoned unless your opponent has no monsters and you have two monsters. This monster's name is treated as "Frisk" when a card effect would specifically affect that card name. 2500/2100
