Mad Hopz
http://www.americansolutions.com/ "As gas prices continue to increase, Congress continues to blame others while ignoring practical steps to stop the pain Americans are feeling at the pump. To lower gasoline prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil, we need real solutions to our energy challenges." -- -- -- --- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- It's basically a petition that's being signed to start using our own Oil in the United States, instead of depending on Foreign Oil. As Gas Prices continue to rise, we, as a Nation, are doing nothing about it. Diesel Gas is up to $5.00+ a Gallon, and rising. 87 Octane should be around $5 by the end of the Summer. Because of all of the left-wing liberal, environmentalists, we're not drilling for oil in our own Country. The idea behind this Petition is to be able to drill for our own Oil, reducing dependency on Foreign Oil and in-turn, lowering Gas Prices. Alaska is a prime example of Oil that we SHOULD be taking advantage of. However, in previous years, a law was passed banning oil from being drilled. Sign away! Pikachu
2 things:1. im not from U.S.....so yea.....2. well, i heard there's lots and lots of oil in canada and alaska.....just heard about it. (i even heard that under canada there's 2 times more oil than the middle east...)
Wyhe
There's only 1 problem with your idea, where would you get the oil from?It would be difficult as you may be taking oil from other countries without knowing it.Thus, the only possible locations are the South Pole & the oceans. Zexaeon
There are several good reasons why a law was passed to stop oil drilling in Alaska. Among the several reasons is a near critically-endangered species called the Polar Bear, whose numbers are dwindling thanks to both rising temperatures and previous years oil refining. There was actually an entire article on it not too long ago. You may wanna give that a look.

Wyhe
In my country, there are no natural resources whatsoever. (It happens when you're on a tiny island)Yet,we can live as a great nation too.I don't see why a much bigger country can't cope with resource problems. VladAshram
I would sign if that wouldn't raise gas prices. Wev have no oil!! If we had any oil then why would we buy it from foreign countries. That is what put the U.S. in debt. It is several trillion $ last time i saw. Nobody wants to owe that much money. The gov. had no choice to depend on foreign oil to have any oil. If we depended on our own oil we would only have enough oil for the state of maryland alone to use at the same gas prices as they are now. Imagine how much more it would cost to spread that over the fifty states. Over $200 a gallon!!! So no, I will not screw americans over. In stead what you can do is stop driving as much, carpool, drive slower(faster actually burns more gas), and walk every where you can. Basically the suggested guide lines for The Great Depression on saving money on gas. It also doesn't hurt following all of them for they are there to help you help yourself along with all other americans at saving money.

Sander
*sigh* Have you Americans ever thought of leaving oil behind and moving onto using other fuels like biodiesel and stuff like that? schyshter
*sigh* Have you Americans ever thought of leaving oil behind and moving onto using other fuels like biodiesel and stuff like that? err... mass production of biodiesel is one of the reasons for the recent rise in food prices. so, i'd say nay... schyshter
So you'd rather pollute the environment rather then save it with alternative solutions? Yeah' date=' [i']very good idea[/i] -_- in a way, supporting the idea of bio-fuel is like supporting famine. there are numerous ways to save the environment other than that. for automobiles, electric-powered cars is one option. solar power, wind power, and wave power (okay, there is a better term for that. i just can't remember it. but it utilizes the power of waves and works like turbines to generate power) can be used to get the power for those type of cars. why not ride a bike, or walk for GOD's sake... You are right about them, but the thing with some power sources that you suggested, (e.g solar power) making the stuff that they require pollute the environment as well, and some countries (like Estonia) don't have the capability to use hydro-energy or solar energy, and yeah, walking is the best xD Anyways, lets just say that ANYTHING that we humans to on this planet pollutes it, heck, even farting is said to pollute the planet xD

HelioSpark
we SHOULD NOT be drilling in Alsaka. I dont think people realize how much that would upset the lives of the native peoples and how destructive it would be to the habitats of many species - some endangered. Bush says he wants to start more offshore drilling to ease gas prices......but what he doesn't realize that by the time the refineries have been built, find a pocket of oil, and start to ship it off, it could be ten yeard from now until the americans have any benefit from it. And by that time whio knows how high the price will be.
VladAshram
personally i like to use biodisel. It is better for the enviroment. But most americans dislike it. the inly reason i am in america is beacause i can't afford to move anywhere else. America is like the most polluted country. Sure we have more natural more natural resourses than most but america wastes them. They always have to solve other peoples problems before they can solve there own. America is a stupid meat-headed and thick-skulled country who has to be dangerous. Knowing there foolish amount of nuclear weapons they are probably going to be the end of them swelves and everybody else. America needs to be told to be a normal country and solve there own problems first, think about there descendants that will be affacted by there decisions, and know when there is a limit for the amount of money wasted on nuclear weapons. They are foolish fools who will probably never switch to biodisel. For more info on the nukes go here http://www.cdi.org/nuclear/database/nukestab.html
Guest JoshIcy
This is why I prefer walking over driving any day :|.... I dont have to worry about prices like this, a simple walk and maybe some Mass Transit. Im glad where I live everything is close by and I dont have to travel miles to the nearest place....
